given that the game is a dream city john will probably find all the details too foggy and kinda hard to remember, so i'm not stepping on any toes! for anyone that has come across from that game into this one he'll remember a bit more clearly. i hope this is okay??
history:
Homestuck &
John Egbert.
personality: When John is introduced, you meet this terrible-movie and prank loving kid. A young teen who enjoys making bad jokes, being aloof and goofy and basically making it a more pleasant and funner encounter in talking with him. He's all for coming up with brilliant pranks and ideas to really set off his prankster gambit, wanting to be just like his Grandmother (who's genetically his mother). Appears innocent, looking up to his own grandmother with admiration, as well as actors such as Nicholas Cage who he will go essays and come up with a million reasons why he's the best there is. He's obviously derpy, nerdy even with his love for games and seems to constantly try and keep away from his Father's love of Betty Crocker and the constant baking and Clown Harlequin love. He's actually more than comfortable to stay in his room and chat with his friends on Pesterchum, playing games with them or messing around. He's very optimistic, passive, humorous and just so open with his close friends. Of course, that isn't to say it's impossible to become friends with this kid. While in the beginning of his timeline he seems to hold an immediate dislike with no way of having any patience with trolls, it starts to change in time.
First, we'll start with how naive this boy can be. He's the easiest of the four kids that you can get to do, no questions asked. Maybe perhaps a few, but usually he'll go along if he likes and trusts you. No matter how stupid the idea sounds, he may just do it. Hence why he's described as being derpy, and possibly very very stupid but his naivety is what makes him so likeable! Really! Even though he doesn't really take to liking being called 'derpy.' He's a generous kid, always looking out for the best of his friends, caring to always consider their birthdays in time to get their gifts ready and quick to send by the time their birthdays come. Becoming friends with him literally brings him to possibly being the best you can have, as he really learns and understands who he's friends with. Such as when it comes to presents, he'll pick out what he thinks would be the most fitting and best. Which end up to being very meaningful. As put, John tends to be thought of what makes to be the perfect Leader. While there may be a lot of people who fit the role, and those who yearn to fit as well as want to, John is simply the first option. He doesn't like being referred to as a leader, or leading anyone. He's just being a friend, that's how he likes to be described. A friend, not a leader. What makes him the way he is, while it can describe nothing more than a leader, he doesn't like the thought of it-- which is why he's constantly refusing the role and not accepting of it. To put basically, he'll always try to protect his friends.
It helps that he's so courageous, willing to step into any danger with no hesitation. Maybe it helps when no one tells him what's to come, or to expect. But such as when he sees a dark swirling cloud, instead of avoiding it or running away-- he goes straight for it. In a way, he's a bit independent, but he likes to depend on his friends, and when told he has to do something, he'll actually go along and do it. If it's something he should be doing, he doesn't see why he shouldn't. And if help is extended, he'll take it. As mentioned earlier though, early before John had very low patience with certain people, Trolls specifically. He was easily annoyed and became quickly short-tempered when a Troll would come to troll him. He wouldn't hesitate on letting them know they were bothering them, and he hardly gave them any time to explain themselves at first. He'd simply roll his eyes at them and try to move on. However, the more they talked to him, it's obvious to see he can't hold any grudges or rather stay mad at anyone for a long time. To sum it up? He'll give everyone a shot, a chance to getting to know them. He may have been rude to the Trolls at first, but by giving them a shot and listening to them for a chance-- it turned out that they happened to be extremely helpful through his timeline in helping with Sburb. The more he chatted with them, the more friendly he got and nicer in talking with them. He comes to talk with them almost regularly, it's a bit complicated with all the odd timelines, but he even comes to the point of considering a few friends.
When mentioned his grudges aren't long-lasting, nor is he malicious for long even after one of the trolls got him killed in a different timeline. He forgives easily and was willing to have her make it up for him, when she said she'd help him. Even though that was what she said the first time, he simply trusts and believes words too quickly for his own good. And as seen in the other timeline, it can bring him to some nasty troubles. But even then he'll see some good out of it, such as learning something he hadn't known before. So even if someone is the cause of his death, he'll still give them another shot, no grudges held, all forgiving. John is just willing to look pass it is all. When Vriska for example was the reason for his death in this timeline, he didn't exactly get mad with her since she did help him to reach god tier. Still, even John can lose his cool. When he came to the scene of seeing his father, and Rose's mother dead due to Bec Noir-- he snapped. In a fit of anger he attacked, he rushed into it with no hesitation, no time to think further on his actions. In a fit of rage, he got himself killed. Though not completely, as it wasn't exactly heroic so he came back. But goes to show despite his optimistic and derpy front, there's other emotions that may just snap if the time comes to it. He also has a few things hidden down that he wasn't even aware of, such as him being confused as the one with the love for Harlequins and not his Father. Though he's always learning, and always becoming a better person. A lovable person who can even win Trolls over. They never heard of a thing like 'friendship'? Well with John, they will!
abilities/powers: At first he was just a normal kid, he's got a pretty wide-ranged mind when it comes to thinking up of what to combine as seen with the alchemizer and the like but deep down he was still normal and regular! Of course, he did have some power to doing the windy thing (which is basically wind manipulation!). It was only until thanks to the help of Vriska, as well as the Sburb game that provided him with reaching the god tier level.
His given title is Heir of Breath which basically provides him with the control over wind to put simply. Being able to control the wind allows him to do "the windy thing", but to put in more terms his abilities range from conjuring up tornadoes, an actual kiss of life (he breathes life into Rose through a kiss doing "the windy thing" but with his lips), and even being able to make him fly! He can also use his surroundings to manipulate with his wind, such as using lava to make a lava tornado. Yes a lava tornado. He can even use the wind to fly other objects such as when he's in a vehicle, as seen making the car he was in fly.
There's also the whole God Tier ability that he can't die unless he goes to do something "heroic." Basically if he goes to do something that involves him being a hero, and he gets killed, only then will he die. Otherwise he'll just resurrect completely fine. Then there's his strife specibi "Hammerkind" which allows him to wield hammers of any size, shown he gains the strength to be able to wield without any difficulty. And then there's the universal Homestuck sylladex which allows him to carry anything he wants within the safety of the modus, of course the limit depending on his current modem installed. It helps to keep him hands free!
first person sample:
a post at ilpromenade.
third person sample: It took a lot longer than he had planned to get to his room. There was trials and distractions that proved to make his way successfully to the room rather difficult. The biggest one of them all was his father. Dad had yet again made a freshly baked cake, made from none other than that Batterwitch's ingredients! Yuck! The two of them were caught in strife mode, John was doing everything he could to get his way out, but things were always tricky with a pranking father like his own. The boy never knew he would feel so happy when the telephone began to ring, giving enough time to abscond the heck outta there. Of course Dad rushed swiftly to go answer it, in the process of flinging the cursed cake at him. He ducked out in time, proving to getting better at dodging them after all those times before. Only slightly however, cake bits clung to his hair as he jolted his way up the stairs. A obvious disgruntled look on his face, grabbing a towel from the bathroom along the way to rub and clean the pieces that stuck on. Your pranking gambit is no way rising, more like cruising downwards at still being caught even if slightly. In any case, he was soon to his room, the best and daylight of the boy's day. He could relax for as long as he wanted, settle at the computer and talk to his chums. There was nothing better than talking to them, they were the best chums John could ask for and nothing-- no one could replace them.
A smile began to show, he really cherished them a lot, it would probably be good to tell them that sometime. The boy began to give fellow greetings to those wonderful people about his room, stopping to tell good ole Nicholas Cage how awesome he's looking yet again today on his Con Air poster. Upon entering the room he had switched his computer on, going around and doing his own thing till noticing now a few minutes into it that the taskbar was blinking with two Pesterchum windows. Might as well go say hello and see what his chums are up to! Peering at the window, he scanned his eyes over the text.

TG: sup bro
TG: hey where are you
TG: hell you better not be talking to your shitty posters again
You really need to remind him how creepy it is when he does, like he was watching him or something. Jeez! He almost rolled his eyes all the same, there was nothing wrong with talking to them! John nearly typed that, cause there was seriously no problem talking with those good people, just saying hello and all anyways. Though his attention is on the other window instead of replying. Clicking on the pop-up, it appears his bro may have told their chum about these recurring moments.

TT: It has been brought to my attention that according to our dear concerned friend, you are apparently conversing with your material posters hanging about your room. You know that I am more than happy to, as he so puts it, "lend a ear to a bro."
.. Okay, you cannot resist facepalming. There was nothing wrong with talking to his posters! ... You tell yourself it sounds better than how that's put. God they're such idiots. Still, he can't help but chuckle to himself, even moments like these.. he really enjoyed it. Chums will be chums, but his chums made everyday so much brighter and funner to live through. Each day fun and something new to bring, even if one friend wants to bash and say it's uncool to talk to his posters. The other wanting to use it to use her therapist mojo and stuff, to dig through and do whatever therapists do. He ignores them for a moment longer instead of replying, still basking in this appreciation. But, a moment longer and something seems to churn in his stomach. It was like.. déjà vu. Did this happen already? Now that he thinks about it, it seemed really familiar.. John stares puzzlingly, looking around his room for a moment till a sound alerts him from his computer. Looks like the third of his chums is online and sending him a message too. Which, he found a little strange actually. It wasn't common they were all on at the same time, different timelines and all. Hours ahead or back, they weren't in the same timezone so it was odd to see them on all at the same time. All the same, he clicks on the window to pop it up and see what this chum is up to.

GG: john!!!!!
GG: listen to me ok??
GG: you gotta wake up!!! :o wake up john!!!
Wake.. up? What the heck was she talking about? Of course he was awake! Why wouldn't he be awake? A brow raises, still staring at the message. Wake up... A few blinks and suddenly everything was flooded with black all around, his head turned and his body twisted around. What..!? Darkness filled every area, everything except the blue outfit he wore. And the red. The red staining his outfit suddenly, the blood flowing and covering his hands suddenly. His heart jolted, eyes widening behind spectacles. No, no no no. This wasn't happening. Wake up! Wake up, wake up, wake up..!! Eyes squeezed shut, tightly closed, not wanting to see the red color that jolted pain through him. Then a sudden sharp breath cut through his chest, a gasp so loud and caught like he had been holding his breath for a while now. He jolted up, sitting and glancing his eyes around. Was he.. awake now? It was hard to tell, it was always hard to tell here. Everything always felt like a dream, even if he was dreaming, he could never tell when he wasn't. A hand raised, wiping the cold sweat dripping on his forehead. He took a few calming breaths, a hand reaching to grab his laptop nearby and turning it on. The moment it flickered on and the video started, he gave his cheerful and best looking smile. Of course, he didn't realize how pale he looked, but that didn't matter. He looked his best to look okay, and if he used voice function-- it would be suspicious.
"Hey guys! Sorry about that, looks like I passed out heheh, did I miss anything?" He had to look fine, it was just a dream.. only a dream. It'll go away, of course it will. He was optimistic still, he had to be. Sides, if he looked bothered, he would be worrying his friends. He can't let that happen, there was more things to be worrying about than stupid strange dreams. So he looked his best to be reassuring.
