I'll find you.

It doesn't love you. You think maybe, it does, but it doesn't, so don't get comfortable. I'll find you. The wind will tell me. Don't think it won't.

I want it back. Is this a curse? It's perverse. Theft is wrong, don't you know that? I'll get it back. I will.

Is everything okay, Lan?

No. Everything is terrible.

Just hold on 'til midnight, Lan.

That's only a few hours, right?

It's really lonely.

Right. Things will be back to normal soon enough.

You've had it since you were born, haven't you?

Yes. As long as I've had Ri, and now the wind is gone and so is he.

Hari, having heard the network report, just approaches him evenly, quietly.

"Are you going out looking for them?"

She tilts her head slightly, crossing her arms.

He sits up, sharply, not used to anyone being able to sneak up on him.

"I've tried. I stopped for a while."

"I am sorry. I didn't mean to startle you," she says first, frowning slightly and maintaining her distance, because personal space is previous, especially when one feels out of one's comfort zone.

"Can I help? Tsornin travels the fastest of any horse in the City, I am quite sure, and while he is not the wind, he might be pressed to compete with it."

It is an offer to this person who has, so far been one of the few people she does not mind talking to in this strange, strange place.

Lan heard the offer, and he knew that it wasn't something small or silly. Tsornin was important to Hari, and he knew that she wasn't offering such a thing to everyone, so he tries to smile a little, just for that.

"I'm just not used to being surprised," he explains, and stands from his desk. "We could go for a ride. I'm not very good on horseback..."
