i got to show off my slow, wobbly u-turn last night as well! i did find the restaurant i was looking for, however.
glad that all's well with bluebird. i just discovered a bizarre and troubling transmission issue. up until now i'd been willing to accept that it was operator error, but i have irrefutable evidence now. sometimes my bike, she won't stay in first while parked and will pop into neutral. also, on occasion, she will shift into second and then fall back into neutral once the foot pressure is removed from the shift lever. :( she's scheduled for a thorough overhaul/checkup appointment next week. i'll have the guys take a look at the shifting issue while she's in.
Cool! I've found the going 'backwards' works better for me for some strange reason. Must be 'cause I'm left handed (I was forever told I was 'backwards' when growing up.) So true to form, I'm learning how to ride backwards too :) Theoretically, you're supposed to hit the parking lots and master all that starting, stopping, and u-turning stuff first. Outside of 20 minutes making circles with my Ninja the first time I rode it, I've only been in a parking lot to park. Perhaps it's because the logic doesn't fit for me. The low-speed stuff is actually more difficult to master. I think it helps to be comfortable with the bike first before trying stuff that can land you on the ground. After about 7000 miles on Bluebird, I'm only now feeling comfortable enough to try things like u-turns.
