So... I ended up in the ER last night due to my incision hurting like hell and looking rather unpleasant. Doctor takes a couple swabs, tells me to clean it and that it looks like a minor skin infection caught early, sends me home. YAY! Right

Wound site infections are so common, which sucks, since yes, they do hurt, and yes, pus does smell. You might need an I&D (incision and drainage). If you end up with an abscess, which is typical if it starts swelling, you might need a wound vac for a couple of days.

Don't be scared. It's treatable, even though, again, yes it sucks.

I, too, was wondering how the ER could just send you home without taking a closer look. Damn them!
I hope you're feeling better by now. I used to work in a hospital for a while and have seen a lot of infections like that. They suck, they smell, but they are treatable. *sends lots of hugs*
