Question...

Dec 22, 2011 08:31

So the antibiotic I am on is clindamycin (300mg 4 x a day)...which I am almost positive I have taken before in my life but not 100% certain. I'm only on my third dose out of 40 (jeebus) but my stomach already hates me for it. :P No vomiting or diarrhea (yet) but LOTS of nausea and general ew. Have any of you taken this medicine? Reactions? Advice ( Read more... )

Believe it or not but I used to take it when I had a nasty gum infectio - pus and pain and all. But apparently I'm like a goddam horse, cause I never had to experience any negative side effects.

Did they prescribe any kind of probiotics?

Yeah, Robin had it for his tooth infection also. It made him feel wretched and he only half-dosed it, but it cleared up his infection, so no major complaints from him. Although he still swears I'll heal 'on my own' and don't need the meds. **eyeroll** HE takes them for his infection but me, no I'm supposed to get 'all better' all by myself. :P

No script for probiotics, but I have activia yogurts and am planning on eating at least a couple a day to help.

Once upon a time I was a goddamn horse too and nothing even slowed me down. This year--maybe I'm making up for lost time? No idea, but I have had more than enough of sick/tired/hurt/scared for a lifetime. Really.

Can you ask your doc for some probiotics then?
They have faaar more good bactery cultures than yogurts.

To be honest I am utterly surprised that they didn't prescribe you any! I mean, I get sick regularly (damn you, bronchitis!!) and always end up on antibiotics and get a probiotic called Fluconazole to go with it - I think it can also go under the name Diflucan or Trican - it's one pill per week and works like a chaaaarm.

I hope you get better at least a bit <3 I'm worried sick about you and I feel terribly sorry to know in what pinch you are :( I curse that stupid pond between us!!! I'd be there in no time to mommy over you <3

I've had antibiotics that have made me reaaaaaally nauseated before. I recommend taking it with food/milk. Not food like a few crackers, but food like a whole meal.

I shall take your advice--despite not having any kind of appetite. The kids are sick again and it's so hard trying to care for them and feeling like a dishrag. I may end up taking them to the pediatrician today. They can't seem to shake this bug and for Keane and Kylie to miss not 1 but 2 holiday parties this week O.o... yeah, they're not well. :(

**hugs**

*HUGS* It's so hard to eat without an appetite. :(

And I'm soooo sorry everyone is so under the weather! Trying to take care of sick kids while you're recovering must be so hard. I wish I was there so I could come over and help take care of all of you.

Hmm...I'd say ask the doctor for some probiotics-I took some yeast pills with antibiotics last year, since it had definite side-effects I needed to guard against!Otherwise, always take it with a glass of milk or some yoghurt!:)

That's one antibiotic I don't remember taking, but I hope you'll be done with this awful sickness crap soon and off to enjoy holidays and life. *hugs* <3333

Interestingly enough, I had to take clindamycin for an infection on my blasted impacted wisdom teeth (two of which have yet to be removed). The nerve pain was hell and pain relievers just don't work like they used to, but mercifully, there were no side effects from the antibiotic. I suggest a trip to the doctor, just to check if your tummy troubles are actually side effects from the drug(though nausea, stomach problems are common side effects for some people) or something else.

Hope you feel better :)
