I got mildly drunk last night. I was toasting Kath with a glass of Johnny Walker Black, which has become my habit on the anniversary of her death. Forgot that twelve year old scotch on an empty stomach is not a good idea for someone my size ( Read more... )

I can think of no better way to honor her memory than by living life fully and happily. It's what she would have wanted.

When someone dies and their family and friends have a celebration of life, I think that's the right thing to do. Celebrate their life and yours. And enjoy the beauty of the day.

Is it getting easier to remember Kath alive and vital and laughing? That was the best part of her, and it was a huge part.

It is for me.

I think this year was a turning point. Last year, being the first anniversary, I was still jangled and raw. This time, I was able to remember the good times and the joy. That's better, I think, than dwelling on the darkness.
