Yardwork + humidity = UGH. I pruned the orange tree, and the ailing carrotwood tree, plus weeded the herb bed and the jasmine. Got about half the branches dragged to the curb when I ran out of steam and had to stop. The big clue that it was time to quit? When I tried to take a drink of Gatorade and my hands were shaking so bad I could barely ( Read more... )

Dude, considering the weather in Bradenton, the description of what you did made me tired just reading it!

The carrotwood tree needs more pruning, but I'm not strong enough to cut the bigger branches. Think I will call Antoine instead. But I took care of the smaller, storm-damaged ones, so if we have more Weather between now and whenever he can come, I won't wind up with dead limbs all over my yard.

Iced tea and doe-eyed serving boys are most appreciated!

Oh sweetie. *hugs*
I'm glad you're getting stuff done, but no dying.
(Alas, I have no iced tea to send.)

I'm fine, sweetie. Hell, I even managed to haul the rest of the branches to the curb a few minutes ago.

Also? The moon is GORGEOUS tonight.

Oooo. I'm sorry I'm missing it.

(I'm glad you're fine, and I'll try to fuss less.)

Forgive me, but...low blood sugar? I also shake after some physical activity outside, especially when it's hot out. I have to eat lots of granola bars and plenty of vitamin water to stay steady.

I think it was a combination of things, but low blood sugar probably contributed.

You got more done than I did; I managed to get the strawberries planted, and that was that. However, I snagged a bottle of sassafras tea concentrate at the grocery tonight; if I have more energy tomorrow, I can recuperate old-school style!

Mmmm, sassafras tea....

I have to restock my groceries. The heat and humidity over the weekend spoiled just about everything that wasn't in the fridge. No tea and toast for me, until I can get more bread!

Also? The tomato seedlings died, dammitall, though that wasn't due to the AC crapping out. The bad weather in the Midwest delayed the shipment, so when they finally arrived, they were in very bad shape. Am going to have to search local nurseries to see if I can find any heirloom varieties available, or else start over from seed.

Luckily, you have a much longer growing season than we do, so you can restart late. I've got seeds for heirloom Romas and Cherokee Purples, but no more Brandywines. Want me to see if I can snag some for you?

Ooo, yes please! That would be wonderful!

Any suggestions for cucumber varieties?
