[BPAL] Gelt

My Yule order arrived while I was away. Last night, I was too tired and wound up about the election to do more than open the box and go "Oooo, pretty bottles!" Today, I have actually started trying them.

We begin with Gelt.

BPAL SAYS: A bounty of chocolate coins! Dry cocoa and golden amber!

And you know, that's pretty much a good description of the scent: bittersweet cocoa and amber. I purchased it in the hopes of having something similar to my beloved Green Label Thirteen, but about all they have in common is that they're both chocolate based. This is not a complaint! They're both lovely, but Thirteen is in no danger of being replaced in my heart as my favorite BPAL scent ever ... which is kind of a shame, since I only have the one bottle, and I'm going through it fast. :/

Anyway. Gelt smells very much like cocoa powder in the bottle. Once on the skin it warms up and takes on a slight nuttiness, rather like hazelnut. As it dries down, the amber comes out to play more and more. Fully dry, it is warm, golden amber with a hint of dark chocolate. Not sure about the throw, but I can still smell it on my skin hours after application, so it has a good deal of staying power.

I like this, a lot. May have to buy an extra bottle.
