We have clearly had different haggises. The Ladies Auxiliary of St. David's Presbyterian Church here makes a mean haggis. I hit their New Years Day levée every year, just for the haggis. Its texture is more like meatloaf, but meatloaf that tastes of lambs liver, slightly smoky flavoured. Yum :-) - but much finer grind than corn beef hash, and not as salty.
