The Pigeon Died.

It lived through the night, didn't look very healthy this morning (huddled with feathers fluffed out), ate a bit of mush from Kate, and then was put back into its 'nest' in the toy dog house ( Read more... )

aww. i used to try and save birds too. once i taped a little finch's jugular shut with hockey tape. its just one of those kid things, lessons are learned, etc etc....

Thanks, all.

The funeral was dignified and moving, at least until the end, when we were all asked to say something to the belatedly-named Pidgwing.

And Colin, who's 13.5, said with a perfectly straight face, "Goodbye Pidgwing, it was nice knowing you. And I hope at least you enjoyed the free-fall."
