Sometimes it's baffling to me that I wrote so much damn Queer as Folk fanfiction within the period of about 1.5 years, in 2004 and 2005. I've never been as involved in a fandom since, although with my copious amounts of free time (graduated from college, unemployed, it's an unnerving feeling), I still read a good amount of fanfiction. I miss it on ( Read more... )

Can I just say that I miss your fanfiction?

I also do not have the time now to be involved with any fandom community. I am surprised to find that I am a bit lonely. Never thought that talking (and obsessing) about makebelieve characters would be fulfilling.

That's so sweet of you! It's been a long time since I've played in the fandom playground--it's so weird, but I almost feel intimidated knowing that there are huge fanbases for so many different TV shows/movies/books these days. And yes, haha, I think we were all pretty united in our love of Brian/Justin, which was awesome.

Which would explain why I am feeling so lj-lonely. My flist are talking/obsessing about shows (and characters) that I either do not know or do not care to know about.

Aww, thanks! It seems super crazy that it's been five years since I've posted any fanfiction, so I was looking through my journal just to remind myself of what was there, haha!

Basically, sometimes I miss Queer as Folk, but not even the show as much as what it represented to the online community which I became a part of.
Exactly. :( :( I had so many good times in QAF fandom.q

The show ended five years ago! Time passes so quickly! We do still share a lot of the same TV shows though, from your reactions on your journal, but nothing quite like Queer as Folk.

Yeah. :( QAF was my very first (fandom). *nostalgic pout*

I feel the same way. Not about Queer as Folk obviously, and frankly the storytelling in video games ranges from "rather poor" to "reach for the Cliffs Notes" but still. Nostalgia!
