A terrific and diverse array of pin-ups. (Well, Seraphim is downright scary, but I suppose I can see the allure.) Do you have Mark Gabor's book, The Pin-Up: A Modest History? It's the one with the first Varga girl on the front. Wonderful as art, history and social commentary.

Thanks for the comments, and thanks for being the first to comment on my journal! There will be more postings of pin-up art and related materials, so check back now and then.

I have heard of the book you mention, but haven't seen it. I have a collection of Vargas and a great book on Elvgren, plus so many other books on art, artists and comics that I'm starting to think about thinning my overloaded shelves.

I do see pin-up art as social commentary, or at least a sociological time capsule that can tell us a lot about the various eras. That's also true of other forms of popular culture. and again, you'll be seeing a lot of that here!
