I'm a fan of Bonny Doon's DEWN (https://www.bonnydoonvineyard.com/dewn_club/) -- the prices are reasonable, the wines are interesting, and every so often you get interesting extras like bound screeds from Randall Graham.
I second the wine store/bar option. Mostly because you won't be "stuck" with just one winery's interpretation of varietals. My local wine megastore here or my super-local wine store here has a club. The first one, they usually offer a case at a discount price each quarter.
Navarro Vineyards in Anderson Valley, California (between Sonoma / Dry Creek and Mendocino) is the first thing that comes to mind when I think variety + bang-for-the-buck. They have tons of different wines and most of them are very reasonably priced. They are especially good if you like Pinot Noir or off-dry/sweetish whites like Gewurztraminer or Riesling

Although, in truth, since I co-own a restaurant I haven't bought wine at retail for quite some time.

They offer several ranges for their wine clubs, and the selection is always good.

They have a pre-release club which is two shipments per year, 6 bottles each (10-25% off): http://www.navarrowine.com/prerelease/
