History roleplay: Phthonos and Himeros

Himeros left Loves' side while she lay still slumbering, wandering off on his own until he came to sit under the boughs of an olive tree. The fresh, cool air of early morning swept over his languid form and stirred the leaves above him. Helios' rays filtered through the latticed canopy and he rested against the smooth bark of a tree still young to ( Read more... )

Zelos peered down at Himeros, a frown on his face.

"You aren't sleeping..." he said simply, before flopping on to the ground next to the erote.

Himeros laughed, opening his eyes to smile at the god that sat beside him. "No, I am not. You have caught me."

Looking at Phthonos, "What took you so long? I have been waiting since Eos came to light. I left Love still slumbering."

"Unlike you, Himeros, I have a job that never ends...."

He faltered a minute, before smiling softly, "Nike wanted me to accompany her and father. They are fighting again...My father and Mother. Nike thinks she can fix is, because she never loses."

"Oh," he said softly, before shifting slightly so that his head rested on Phthonos' shoulder.

"You could rest, could you not? Tell Nike and your siblings that you needed to get away?"

Softer still, "We could leave, just for a while. Away from everything. It would only be us."

"Who knows truly? I just want an adventure."

Voice softer as he squeezed Zelos' hand, still within his own grasp. "And you, all to myself. Can you fault me on that?" He reached out, fingers tracing the curve of Zelos' lips, wanting the lovely smile back. "Perhaps you will notice only me and no other unfortunate."

"Where to go? Where to go?" He thought on it and closed his eyes and soon they stood in the center of a lush jungle, the exotic plants surrounding them filling his senses till he was heady with it. He turned his head and through the break in the trees was a waterfall.

Speechless, he heard a rustle behind them and he saw something moving through the leaves. "Oh," he breathed out.

Zelos' eyes where wide as he gazed about.

"It's beautiful," he breathed, turning to sight of the stripped creature hidden in the trees.

He stared at it for a long time, his toga shifting about his body as he moved toward it. "What is it?"

"I don't know," he whispered before trying to grab ahold of Zelos, who only evaded him and moved closer to the magnificent creature.

"Phthonos!" he hissed. "What are you doing? Return to my side now!" It did not matter if they were gods, Prometheus' doing would have ensured that the animal would be able to protect itself well enough.

"I want to touch it..." Zelos sound absently, not caring that the other fretted over this matter. This was something new, and different...something open to be explored.

"Animals should not be made to kill for someone else's whim," he said softly. "Prometheus gave them their armor and weapons to protect themselves and defend their young."

Himeros leaned down to press a kiss on the furred snout, smiling when the animal licked its lips afterwards and looked at him placidly. "It was a privilege to meet you, splendid one."

He watched as the animal roared once and turned around to trot off back into the foliage it had come from. Behind him, he could almost feel Zelos' anger.

It took effort to pull himself away from the beast, but Himeros' words had him boiling- a sure method to be sure he followed the erote.

"Why can't I teach it to fight with me? What do you know of fighting anyway?"

Himeros sighed. "I may be Love's, Zelos, but I know what fighting entails, I know what violence entails. And I think that it would be cruel for such an animal to be made into someone else's weapon, because of someone else's will. It is meant to be free."

Looking back at Zelos, "Do you not wish you could be free at times?"

"I am free, I do as I want when I want."

Why would Himeros thing otherwise of him? Free, Zelos was forever free.

Himeros shook his head, placing a finger on Zelos' lips. "Do not apologize for being who and what you are. I love you in spite of it, because of it. And I know you Love me...in your own way. I take what you can give me."

Relishing the feel of arms around him, "But I do not lie when I say that hearing you say all these makes me happy. They are words and I know there is truth in them but just hearing them... It makes me happy."

"Do you ever regret loving me?"

For some reason he worried, he worried that he couldn't match Himeros' love no matter how he tried to emmulate it, no matter how zealous he was in his love.

Himeros leant in to kiss Zelos, lost to the sensation of the warmth against his own lips.

"Not once," he breathed out after pulling away. "Love can wound, it can break someone, but it can also heal and bring you to heights you never thought possible. I am willing to feel all Her glory, all Her pain. But I will never regret loving you. No matter what."

"Am I enough love for you? Me alone, and no one else?"

There was, in trutth, a slightly dangerous glem in his eyes, a look of daring- daring others to try to take what was his.
