Still Alive

This was a triumph...

UGH!

Where to start?

Most recently, I'm recovering from a very very nasty flu. I'm still dizzy and weak, though I suspect this may have something to do with not having eaten very much in the past few days. I had breakfast this morning, and toast and soup last night. Hell, I was proud of myself to be keeping down WATER.

I caught it from Val.

Val was hospitalized for it, from early Wednesday afternoon until Friday evening. She couldn't keep anything down -- not even Pedialyte. She'd thrown up a total of seven times by the time she was admitted. At least this time they didn't make us sit in a waiting room for hours and hours (I know that waiting is common at the ER, but for an MCADD child it can be deadly when they are vomiting. An MCADD child can go from seeming perfectly normal to a hypoglycemic crash within a very short time period. We have letters for both kids stating as much, but the ER staff doesn't always want to be bothered with reading them). She was hooked up to an IV almost immediately. Her blood sugar was low, and not coming up the way they wanted it to, so they admitted her. She was still vomiting the second day, though not as much, so they kept her overnight a second night. On the third day, she was still a little pale, but definitely back to being herself, so the doctor signed the order and she got to come home.

I'd been feeling nauseous as we were getting her ready to leave the hospital. I was hoping that it was just a very long three days catching up with me, but I was wrong. I barely made it to the bathroom, and I lost ten pounds within 24 hours.

Like I said, I'm feeling a bit better now.

Julian is staying with Josh's family, because everyone who has come near Val has caught it. Me, Josh, my mom, my sister... And my dad has been feeling nauseous. He's hoping he'll be safe because he's been taking that Emergen-C stuff all week to fight a cold. That stuff really does seem to help. Thanks for giving me those samples a while back, aiden_raccoon!

In other news, I have a nice, new, shiny pink Sony Vaio! It's pretty, it's new, it's shiny and pink. I bought a matching keyboard skin for it. Next up is the matching mouse, though I'm thinking that will go on my Christmas wishlist, since Josh and his family usually ask me for one.

In other other news, I've been trying to work on my weight. Though I guess the part that's under the cut helped a little, I'd like to lose weight in a more healthy way than that, so I've been working hard on eating healthier, calorie counting, and exercise. Sure, for right now that's kind of shot, but I'm sure within a few days I'll be back to normal and back at it. I'd actually lost 12 pounds the healthy way before getting sick. My weight loss goal, counting from my starting weight, is 124 lbs.

Though, before I'm back at anything, I'm going through and disinfecting this entire house so my Julian can come home safely! (I really don't want him to get sick!! This flu was miserable, and I don't want to see him go through it, too. And I don't think I can do two hospital stays in such a short time!!)

Tonight's goals:
-Eat something
-Sanitize downstairs bathroom
-Laundry: Towels - 2, whites - 1, darks - 2, reds + browns - 1 (Since I'm the only one who does laundry, this has been building since Wednesday. Yuck!)
-Dishes (Again, since no one but me does them, they've been sitting since Wednesday. EWWWWWWWWWWW!!)
