Been following video game-related blogs pretty closely over the past few days as the Electronic Entertainment Expo is going on in Los Angeles. Things have changed a lot since my earliest video gaming days, when I'd have to wait for the next issue of Nintendo Power or EGM to read about the big E3 announcements. Dude, those games look great! I wonder how the Wii Mario Kart will use the controller... maybe as a steering wheel? I'm sure Metroid will be awesome too! =)

I have to say it's intriguing. The PS3 and 360 are aiming for power, online connectedness, integration with media--and as such, their price tags are higher. (Sony's is off the scale). Whereas the Wii is focusing on games--just games, and fun gameplay.

They're almost disparate markets.

For a while now I've been thinking that too much time is spent on the graphical gloss, and too little on innovation--maybe in this generation there'll be a pleasant shift in the other direction.
