Actually, it is a fiction novel, based on some events from Mineko Ohwa(I think that's her name)'s life, she was a geisha in Osaka. However, it's actually set in a totally different time period. Mr. Golden is very clear that it is not her biography. She wrote her own... called Geisha, A Life that's actually kinda... whiny. There was also a legal battle over the book between her and Golden. ^-^

Well, the first part is like... the fictional 'author' talking about the fictional Sayuri. ^-^

I love Immortal Geisha, the webmistress even makes Kanzashi (hair pins and such) and sells them on a sister website. I want one! lol
