Mytho-centric FST: Something Transcendental and Dumb

Nov 09, 2007 14:03

Mytho-focused FST I finally got around to finishing (mostly because Ryuuken found the one song I really needed ♥ Ryuuken). And stripped of most of my witty and unnecessary dialogue. Except demanding that you download at least the first and last two tracks here, for the sake of just good music. Okay, I'll stfu and let the songs do the talking...

~*~

The Tragedy Begins

God Says Nothing Back -The Wallflowers
Tear drops from a hole in heaven come
Overhead like ravens
Dropping down like bombs
Through the morning’s silver frosted glow
God says nothing back but I told you so
I told you so

Drosselmyer’s story comes to life.

~*~

The Shattered Heart

Winterborn (Orchestral) -The Cruxshadows
Discard regret, that in this debt
A better world is made
That children of a newer day might remember and avoid our fate
And in the fury of this darkest hour
We will be your light
You’ve asked me for my sacrifice
And I am winter born

The prince cannot defeat the raven, so he tears out his own heart to seal him away.

~*~

The Dancing Puppet

Fairy Tales and Castles -Lifehouse
Cause on and on and on he goes
Dancing on the grave
Of what he thought was still alive
On and on he goes
Dancing in mansions made of twigs
And castles made of sand

What’s left after he cut out his heart is nothing more than an emotionless doll.

~*~

The Helpless Protector

A Letter from St. Jude -The Wasted Youth Orchestra
I suppose I should feel something for everyone out there
And I do
And I do want to be of help
I do, I do want to be of use
I don’t know what to do
With all the prayers coming through

But even then he still protects the most helpless and lost of causes.

~*~

The Faithful Knight

Closer to You -The Wallflowers
These are the days that I won’t get back
Won’t hear you cry or hear you laugh
But when it’s quiet and I don’t hear a thing
I can always hear you breathe

Fakir finds the prince and swears to keep him safe, even if Mytho will never appreciate his knight’s fidelity.

~*~

The Graceful Ballerina

Devotion -Tracy Chapman
If I am right
If I can be
Constant and faithful
You’ll find me
In my devotion

Fakir isn’t the only one to love Mytho enough to remain by his side, but Rue needs to believe the prince loves her in return.

~*~

The Duck and the Prince

Remember the Tinman -Tracy Chapman
Who stole your heart?
The smile from your face
The innocence, the light from your eyes
Who stole your heart or did you give it away?
And if so then when and why...

Then one day a duck sees him dancing, and can’t help but want to bring a smile to his face.

~*~

The Princess

Melody of You -Sixpence None the Richer
This is my call I belong to you
This is my call to sing the melody of you
This is my call I can do nothing else
I can do nothing else

Princess Tutu appears to return his heart, and with it a feeling that can’t be described in words.

~*~

Returning the Shards

Nemo (Orchestral) -Nightwish
Walk the dark path
Sleep with angels
Call the past for help
Touch me with your love
And reveal to me my true name

With each feeling he regains, the more Mytho remembers himself as the prince and wants to make things right.

~*~

Do You Want to Suffer?

Lullaby for the New World Order -Matthew Good Band
You know whenever you ask it’s never a good time
How do you take your heart out of it?
How can you take your heart out of this?
And how do you stop once you’ve started

Fakir objects to Mytho getting his feelings back, but concedes when Mytho says it’s what he wants.

~*~

Rue’s Jealousy

Save You -Emilie Autumn
How do I save you from a voice so soft
As that which acquiesces to your each demand
How do I look upon the eyes I love
And send them down this path, I know it isn’t right

Rue objects too, but she doesn’t care what Mytho wants as long as she can make him want her.

~*~

The Raven’s Blood

Please Bleed -Ben Harper
Is this really living?
Some times it’s hard to tell
Or is this just a kinder gentler hell
Turn out the lights and let me stare into your soul
I was born and bled for you to hold

So Rue steals Mytho’s heart shard and bathes it in raven’s blood to change him into a prince of ravens.

~*~

Tainted Love

Inside of You, In Spite of You -Thou Shalt Not
I am in your future
I am in your past
I’m the echo of your footsteps
I’m your shadow cast
I am the heat you radiate
I am the fury and the fate
I am each beat within your heart from first to last

The feeling of love becomes the prince’s greatest weakness, but still remains his greatest strength (you thought it was going to be a Soft Cell song huh?).

~*~

Stop Falling Out Windows, Mytho

Protégé Moi -Placebo
Sommes nous les jouets du destin (we are the playthings of fate)
Souviens toi des moments divins (remember those moments divine)
Protect me from what I want
Protégé moi, protégé moi

Mytho’s last cognizant plea is for Fakir to save him from himself before the raven takes over.

~*~

Kraehe’s Prince

Fairy Tales Tell Tales -Cursive
You’re no good at pretending
All my plays have tragic endings
You wish I was a fairy tale
This frog will never change anything

Rue holds onto the belief that her raven prince will love her, despite all of Mytho’s cruelties.

~*~

Capturing a Sacrifice

Black, Black Heart (slow version) -David Usher
Black, black heart how could you offer more
Why could you make it easier on me to satisfy?
I’m on fire I’m rotting to the core
I’m eating up your kings and queens
All your sex and your diamonds

Meanwhile, he preys on the weaknesses of others so they would sacrifice their hearts to him.

~*~

Tutu’s Burden

Do What You Have to Do -Sarah McLachlan
Every moment marked
With apparitions of your soul
I’m ever swiftly moving
Trying to escape this desire
The yearning to be near you
I do what I have to do

And each time Mytho tries to steal a heart Tutu is there to stop him, but she can’t save him.

~*~

The Raven Emerges

Animal I Have Become -Three Days Grace
So what if you can see
The darkest side of me
No one will ever change
This animal I have become

Mytho succumbs to the raven’s blood.

~*~

The Spoken Confession

I Would Die For You -Jann Arden
I’ve never seen this kind of love
The kind that won’t wash away
And then leave you in the dark
I would die for you

Rue confesses she would give up her heart for Mytho’s sake because she loves him.

~*~

Relinquishing

Never is a Promise -Fiona Apple
You’ll never live this life that I live
I’ll never live the life that wakes me in the night
You’ll never hear the message I give
You’ll say it looks as though I might give up this fight

Ahiru has to give up the pendant in order to rescue Mytho.

~*~

Defying Fate

O Fortuna -Carl Off
Hac in hora (So in this hour)
sine mora (without delay)
corde pulsum tangite; (pluck the vibrating strings)
quod per sortem (since fate strikes down)
sternit fortem(the strong man)
mecum omnes plangite! (everyone weep with me!)

Drosselmyer’s grand climax is meant to end tragically.

~*~

Hope’s Light

I Hope You Dance -Leann Womack
I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean
Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens
Promise me that you give faith a fighting chance
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
I hope you dance

The moral of Princess Tutu: healing light of duck.

~*~

Happily Ever After

Dance With You -Live
I want to dance with you
I see a world where people live and die with grace
The karmic ocean dried up and leave no trace
I want to dance with you
I see a sky full of stars that change our mind
And lead us back to a world we would not face

When everything is said and done, Mytho chooses Rue to be his princess and they leave.

~*~

The Epilogue

The Book of Love -Peter Gabriel
The book of love is long and boring
No one can lift the damn thing
It’s full of charts and facts and figures
And instructions for dancing

Fakir finishes Mytho’s story and begins a new one, a story overflowing with hope.

Bonus: I am not evil enough to upload the Mammal song so have a sweet Fakir/Ahiru post series song instead, The Sun and the Moon.
