Chiaki probably sees Shuichi almost daily, and he knows he hears him whenever they're around. I assume they try to talk about their work but it inevitably ends up about what Nodame's done recently and Chiaki has an attempt at purely professional relationship with him but sort of notices gossip regarding the band's exploits. Chiaki has also cooked for Shuichi if he ever pulls all nighters and then goes right to complaining about how nobody has a good worth ethic right after.
