Lately Jacky's emotions had been all over the place, mostly settling on worry. Though the girl would never show it to Kratos. She kept most of her worries locked away from him and the rest of the world entirely. Higgins was probably the only one to ever see that side of her, and he only saw it on the rare occasions she let it slip. Katy knew of it as well, her having been on the Blood Hound with Jacky and waking to Jacky's screams in the middle of the night. That was her weakness... her worries and her fears. And she kept them neatly hidden away

As she approached him, Kratos realised that he didn't really know what he wanted to say to her. There was so much he wanted to say to her, about her importance to him, about their meeting and their plans for the future, but he couldn't find the words to express any of that. He had never been particularly good at expressing his feelings, not even around Jacky.

One thing was certain though. Jacky had done so much for him and he had shown her little in return in his mind. He still shut her out, disappeared without warning... he knew that he worried her, but that was just the way he was. Even so, he wanted to make it up to her somehow. To let her know that he was fine, that she didn't have to worry. That they were fine. More than that, in fact. What good would their marriage be if they carried on like this

That hadn't been what she was expecting... Honestly, she wasn't sure what she was expecting when he called her to him. But for him to say 'I love you' with no warning or hesitation, it threw her off guard. It just wasn't what she had thought would happen. Or the effect that those simple words would have on her.

Jacky closed her eyes a moment and let out a sigh. In this moment, his words had relieved her anxieties. For now it was just him and her. The rest of world had disappeared. And watching him now, hearing him say he loved her and knowing how much she loved him... She just wanted to forget everything else and stay like this for as long as they could. She wanted to forget her worries for just a moment. To have a peaceful moment with him again.

After a moment she opened her eyes and smiled softly at him, her eyes meeting his again. She reached up and stroked his cheek lightly.

"I love you too." No hesitation, no fear, no worries. Just her love for him.

He closed his eyes for a moment as she touched his cheek, listening to those all-important words. That they could both say it with no hesitation helped to reassure him that everything would be all right between them.

He opened his eyes again and placed a hand on hers, taking it away from his face and holding it. His eyes did not leave hers. He was serious.

"I know you do not want me to apologise, but I feel that I need to. I have been hiding things from you, refusing to talk or share my thoughts and feelings with you. It... wasn't right for me to do that. You deserved to know. You still deserve to know..."
