(ooc: Since Angeal is pulled from the point in the game where he knows he's not quite normal and he knows he's degrading he's going to be in a fragile position. Especially with Hollander no where to be found and Genesis missing.)

Appearance; Very dark brown hair, it’s almost black depending on the lighting. He has side burns. His hair stops at his shoulders. He has two darks strands of hair that sometimes fall over his eyes. He has dark brown eyes to match. He has the standard SOLDIER shoulder armor, two silver, metal plates over his shoulders. Underneath is the lined, navy blue, sleeveless shirt of Soldier First Class. Leather straps go over his shoulder and are connected at a leather belt. He wears navy blue pants and combat boots - the boots are black. He has dark leather gloves that come up to his wrists..
Angeal is decently muscular in build. He is not a stick figure, skinny man. His training has wrought a pretty battle hardened physique. It especially shows in his arms, cause they are bare. He has a square jaw line and though most of the time he looks serious, he has a very wide confident smile. Except for when he’s smiling that small, subtle amused smile. You don’t want this guy to glare at you - it’s something fierce.
Due to being part of Project ‘G’(project Gillian), Angeal has a condition that cause him to sprout, from his back, two white, feathery wings. They are a rather decent size, considering that some would call them angel’s wings.
Personality; He is a focused, very dedicated person. He is SOLDIER First Class after all. Beneath his seriousness, he is a very emphatic person. He was a mentor to Zack, taking him under his wing and training the young SOLDIER Second Class early on. Basically, he is the one that usually saves Zack’s butt. Once in the training simulator he stopped Sephiroth from administering the killing blow on the young man and in Wutai , Angeal protected him in a battle against its guardians when the ambitious second class let his guard down. He got between Zack and Genesis in Banora. Angeal is loyal to his friends and a protector. He also displays a good deal wisdom and life experience, telling Zack a story with a moral about honor attached to it before the Wutai mission - and insuring that the younger man would pay attention to it by letting it seem like it was first class advancement related. It wasn’t of course. He has a sense of humor that shows itself at rare times. He nicknamed his young compatriot ‘Zack the puppy.’ Zero attention span and restless as a little puppy.
He has a lot of pride; he doesn’t ask for help. During the Wutai mission, Angeal disappeared to go look for Genesis without any explanation, not to fledgling Zack whom he was fond of, not even to his other best friend, Sephiroth. He never really did explain himself. He just followed his instincts or so I believe. The defect Geneis, was his best childhood friend. They grew up together, they both became friends with Sephiroth, they were all first class. He must have been tired of wondering and worrying what was going through his best friend’s mind.
Abilities/Strengths;Angeal has been exposed to mako like everyone in Soldier. This gives him physical strength beyond that of a normal person. He interrupted a fight between Sephiroth and Genesis, getting in between the two. He took a direct hit from Genesis in the face and came out of it ok. He doesn’t have any signature moves, but if that doesn’t say something about his abilities, I don’t know what does. Angeal is most likely the adult of that group. I think his two friends would get into even more trouble without him around to remind them to stay in check. It’s very easy for him to take control of a situation, asserting words of advice or encouragement. He’s very easy to respect, and most people would be comfortable following his leadership.
Weaknesses; He takes his honor very seriously. Too seriously. When Angeal found out about the experiment that had been done on him, he stopped believing he was human. What honor could a monster have? And, if one didn’t have honor than what did they have? What was he fit for if he wasn’t human? In the end, he combined with other monsters in order to force Zack into a fight so that he could die before totally loosing his humanity. He was deteriorating; he didn’t expect to stay sane. His enemy was ‘all that caused suffering’ - including himself.
Notable Possessions; His father spent all they owned on a buster word for Angeal. He regards it as the embodiment of his family’s honor and rarely uses it.
History;Angeal grew up in the rural town of Banora. He was the one that suggested Zack for First Class and was a mentor to him. (The blue colored apples that grow there were the ‘dumb apples’ from the story he told Zack before the Wutai mission.) Angeal sometimes stole apples from the orchard there - he was poor after all- but he never stole from the biggest tree, which was on the rich man’s land. It was an honor code of his. That rich man’s son was his best friend. That best friend was Genesis. Though he left that last bit of information out of his story to Zack.
His friend ,Genesis, had defected from SOLDIER, taking a good number of second classes with him. It can only be speculated as to why later. Perhaps Angeal knew or suspected part of the reason. They were both part of Project Gillian. Both received g-cells. Supposedly, it was to produce a child with the traits of an ancient. Genesis was said to have shown no signs of this at his birth, though later it backfired badly. The subjects of this experiment would begin to deteriorate. According to the scientist, Hollander, Angeal’s mother was injected with Jenova’s cells and because he was born from her body, (as opposed to simply having his fetus injected with cells like Genesis), he was ‘perfect.’ Both his and Genesis’s cells can be injected into other creatures to make ‘copies’ or rather, monsters cloned in their image.
His mother committed suicide shortly after his return to Banora. Perhaps it was seeing Genesis, who had always been ‘such a good boy’ kill the villagers, perhaps it was acknowledging what the experiment she had taken part in had done to her only son.
None of the above is something he is proud of. It shamed him so much he began to doubt his humanity. He was perfect, yes - a perfect monster. When Zack confronted him( for the second time after Angeal abandoned Shinra along with Genesis), with the idea that wings were the mark of an angel, not a monster, Angeal only retorted, “What should an angel fight for?! What do angels dream of?! - to be human..” He attacks Zack and the young SOLDIER falls through the collapsing floor. When next they meet, in is when Shinra Headquarters is under attack by Angeal copies. He fights alongside Zack and Sephiroth saying that his enemy is all that causes suffering. It implies he still has strong loyalties to his SOLDIER honor and that he is not comfortable at all with what Genesis is doing. As long as he carried the buster sword, he would hold to his pride. His father spent all their money on that sword and died shortly afterward. It symbolizes the family’s honor.
In Modeoheim, he badly wounds Cloud and Tseng when they go after them. He confronts Zack alone and forces him into a confrontation that will take his life. He couldn’t wait to totally degrade, to totally loose his own self and become a monster. He’s die before that happened. He couldn’t let himself become the very thing he wanted to destroy. He pushed Zack, asking him if he did not have someone waiting for him. After a short interruption in which Hollander explains the full story, Angeal fused with other copies of himself and the real fight begins. Zack succeeds in defeating him and he gives his former charge the buster sword. He hands it over and tells Zack to never forget his honor. Then he dies.
