Internet is fixed, and so is the script! Enjoy~ ♥
Ohno: I just simply created figures... and that gradually piled up. And the fans' interest of what I was making, what kind of stuff I was making, came in so, I thought, "Ah that's right, they don't know huh..." When I was doing the stage play too, during a performance of Tensei Kunpu, I said I wanted to do a personal exhibition. I wanted to say it while I was working hard. When the second performance ended, I immediately went home... then, I kept creating things into the night. Then, I made the request in the dressing room... during my free time between the first and second performances, I was carving like this.
Ohno: I don't know what exhibitions are, exactly. I thought, maybe a place where I could make my creations public would work as an exhibition... so I said that I wanted to do an exhibition. And it just somehow became such a big event...
Staff: Don't forget that! Let's work with the tables first. Okay, let's go~
Ohno: What surprised me was that... there were so many-- there were about 100 staff members creating the walls and such... and I thought, "Ah, this many people can move around in it!" I was shocked. That was my first impression.
Ohno: This is amazing! Before this, when was it? Last year I think? I came down to take a look... but now it feels even wider. Are we really opening it here? Here, right? Amazing~! Mm, I wonder how it'll turn out... This part is for the goods, right? They'll come in like this, then like this, in here... It'll turn out like this?
Staff: Right, right, this is how it's like. And--
Ohno: Ahh!
Staff: Then after that, with your works...
Ohno: I can arrange them.
Staff: Ohno-kun, you can decide on stuff for us. Do you have any wishes?
Ohno: Something like, five five, five five. So it's balanced.
Ohno: If this becomes this...
Staff: It's better if it becomes that way? Shall we switch these?
Ohno: Mm, maybe.
Ohno: We'll use kindergarten colours... like green, yellow, blue... so we'll put it up around here, and sort of...
Ohno: To have the works that I've always created on my own, be... what is it? Because everyone is cooperating with me... that's why, well, although it's a personal exhibition, that feel of having everyone creating it, I kind of like that.
Ohno: Wahh, amazing! How nostalgic. Ahh, these bring back memories. This is good. It's fun, these really bring back memories when I see them. I've started to get excited. Um... in elementary school? That moment when the fourth block ends, it's starting to feel like that moment when I can go out and play.
Ohno: Well, please watch my work! I wonder if it'll open well...
Ohno: Ogura-san said he'd come to the exhibition so... I'm drawing a bit of a present. But... it's hard!
Ohno: It was pictures first. I did pictures first... drew Dragonball pictures... and, I stopped after I entered the Jimusho... I got interested in dancing. So I took a bit of a breather I guess.
Ohno: When I do it without deciding on anything, because I have no idea when it'll end, I get lazy. I decide on punishments, you know. Like the figures for example, if I don't finish them by a certain time, I'll shave off both my eyebrows, stuff like that. And, because I definitely don't want to shave, I'll work on them. "Woww, you're good at art!" "What should I do to get there?" That one, especially.
Ohno: That's good. That looks good. Let's look at it again. It's good. Ogu-san, completed! Ahhhh, I'm tired!!
Ohno: I brought everything here. Honestly, I took whatever I had, and brought everything here.
Ohno: These are the feet I made while I was working on the chair.
Ohno: It doesn't look like me at all.
Staff: Shall we go with the items you brought out first?
Ohno: I really didn't know what to do with "Satoshi's Room" at all. I didn't think that we'd have extra walls.
Staff: I think it's fine if you pasted that on...
Ohno: So it'll be like this on the side...
Staff: Is that a bit crooked?
Ohno: Eh? No, it's fine. Thank you. In any case, I had a lot of leather left over so I brought them over... and, maybe I could hang it on the bottom of that, display it so people can tell that I use these sort of things for my creations. Huh, didn't I have a yellow piece somewhere?
Ohno: The thing that goes "kashan". (*note: noise of a loud stapler)
Staff: Want to do it with one go?
Ohno: I thought it was interesting to work on all the parts that weren't decided yet on the spot too.
Ohno: Um... I just had the points down, that's all. That was cool huh. When I say points, I mean, for example... I thought, it'd be boring just to paste leather, so... as long as I had a face there, that'd be one point. And with that, it'd be okay, but I pretty much just went with the flow and made it.
Ohno: What should we do from here?
Ohno: The staff, all of us, we worked together...
Ohno: That's good!
Ohno: I like that sort of thing. That's why, working on that one side was also... something that everyone wanted to do.
Ohno: You know, for the bottom part, you can paste a lot. 'cause I'll be working on this part, so you can just put on things randomly at the bottom.
Ohno: I thought, I can do things spontaneously quite well. It was a good thing.
Staff: You're going to connect this over there?
Ohno: I intend to.
Ohno: Ah, it's better to have it. Yes. It's better to have it. Maybe on top of that, you can take a detailed one...
Ohno: That was pretty tough, huh.
Staff: It was, to get each and every one...
Ohno: They fall, don't they? My figures have bad balance.
Ohno: We're going to put this there right? So we'll go like this on the wall. This is kind of confusing but, let's display them going a little bit upwards to the right.
Ohno: Forever be my soul~
Staff: The tape itself is--
Ohno: For here, use a scarf-type one. If it goes this way... It's cool.
Ohno: Like this.
Ohno: This is a shape that I use to make figures. When you open it, it has a face. So when I pour resin in here, it'll harden... and it can pop out. So, orange, blue, yellow... then green. Then after that, red.
[It's great that the newspaper articles are big huh! YAY]
Ohno: Oh!
[Satoshi's Memories]
Ohno: Done! It's become cute. You know, it's fun to create works on the spot. "Tandi ka yo tandi!" This is... in the Okinawa language. It means, "Thank you, times a hundred!"
Ohno: Uoohhh, amazing~
Staff: It's so grand!
Ohno: I want to hurry up and see this!
Staff: This one, right?
Ohno: How surreal.
Staff: It's cool.
Staff: Ah, this is okay like this?
Ohno: I found it, I found it!
Staff: You found it?
Ohno: I found it!
Staff: You're going to put that in with this?
Staff: Where are you going to display that?
Ohno: I don't know!
Ohno: Maybe in the middle of the tire...
Staff: Shall we put it in the tire?
Staff: The hand-warmer, I had that on so...
Staff: Ahh, okay!
Ohno: This is really good. This is the best!
Staff: It'll become small.
Ohno: This is good too!
Staff: Then it'll suddenly get big, then overflow.
Ohno: Amazing~!
Staff: Then, a different one will appear on the opposite side.
Ohno: Amazing!
[Gamadon]
Ohno: No, it's okay. Waahh, this is so cool~! This picture is amazing.
Staff: When I look at this again, it reminds that you drew this on your own, huh!
Staff: Then, please give us support tomorrow as well.
Ohno: Please take care of me~!
Staff: Please take care of us~ Thank you for the hard work~ Thank you~
Ohno: Okay~!
[The distribution of tickets for today has ended.
- Those who have postcard exchange tickets, the exchange is being carried out over here]
Staff: Good morning, good morning~
Staff: Okay, with that, let us begin.
Ohno: It really does become a grand thing huh! This part is really grand...
Ohno: I like the space here. Doesn't it seem like an art gallery? The two or three art galleries I've gone to see all had this feel so... maybe it's because this is my own exhibition? It feels good somehow. My feelings had me going, "Hohh~"
Ohno: Ama-- Uwaah. It's been displayed so magnificently. Amazing~!!
Staff: It was correct to have them mixed up.
Ohno: It was huh. It's better to have them disorganized.
Staff: It's better to have them disorganized. They're all different, their personalities are different.
Ohno: This is really grand.
Staff: It's really grand.
Ohno: Amazing. But I like all of them. Eight o'clock. Ah, this is really pretty!
Staff: It's pretty huh.
Ohno: What is this face? This is good huh.
Staff: Mm.
Ohno: Okay.
Sho: It's finally beginning. It seems like he was here until 12am last night working on the structure of this hall on his own. So at 12am, Ohno-san said, "Then alright, everyone, with this it's done! So everyone, dismissed!" And with that, the staff members could all go home?
Ohno: That's wrong. I went home first on my own. It was early today, I'm sorry.
Sho: Because today started early, right.
Ohno: Yes.
Sho: Eh, so if you worked on the structure till 12am, what time did you start then?
Ohno: Yesterday... afternoon, about the afternoon...
Staff: 12pm.
Ohno: About 12pm.
Sho: The entire time?
Ohno: I started working from 12pm...
Sho: Display that like this, face it in this direction, that sort of thing?
Ohno: There's that, and I created things for the areas that didn't have anything too.
Sho: Hehh. That's amazing. It really is an exhibition.
Ohno: It's an exhibition.
Sho: It's amazing... I don't get tired of looking at these at all. Satoshi-kun! What is this? What did you make this with?
Ohno: What is it? I made it using wall materials.
Sho: When did you make this?
Ohno: When was this? The end of last year.
Sho: For this?
Ohno: I was doing this for practice, that one too.
Sho: You drew this??
Ohno: For this right, I carved it.
MC: Well then! I apologize for making you wait this long. The exhibition starts today, and here is its artist, Arashi's Ohno Satoshi-san!
Ohno: Ehhh. I'm Arashi's Ohno Satoshi. Today, thank you for the exhibition... my! My exhibition, thank you for taking the time to come to my exhibition.
MC: Please tell us your thoughts on having come as far as opening a personal exhibition.
Ohno: The best!
Sho: Of course right?
Ohno: Yes!
Sho: You really do think that.
Ohno: It's a strange feeling.
MC: The truth is, before the exhibition, we expanded on this campaign. We collected figure designs from the public masses. And from that, Ohno-san picked the ones he liked, and actually worked on the figures. The title is, "Niwakani niwatori" (Suddenly, a chicken).
Ohno: Um... white! Having it white is fresh to me, plus, I thought that it was amazing the person would have the idea of creating a chicken.
Sho: Somehow... it looks like a Mohican, so it's cool huh.
Ohno: That's right.
Sho: The feel of the chicken.
Ohno: Yes.
MC: Title of the work: "Japanese Drag Queen".
Ohno: The blonde hair was really interesting... and when I saw the fine details, I wondered how I was going to make it but... I risked it and went there. I took the risk.
Sho: You wanted to take on the challenge.
Ohno: I wanted to take on the challenge.
MC: Obata Hiroki-kun. A design adopted by a 7-year-old, title of the work: "A weird, crazy pierrot."
Ohno: Right? Truly, that's Obaka-chan for you. (*note: Ohno deliberately mixed up Obata with Obaka. O-baka, therefore, he just playfully called the boy a little idiot.)
Sho: So you completely recreated his design?
Ohno: I recreated it completely. The bottom lip is purple but... in any case, there's a light purple.
Sho: Ahh.
Ohno: It's hard to tell though.
MC: A work submission with no individual applied to it. What does that mean?
Ohno: I really received a lot of materials, these are all things that people sent to me. I mixed in various things from everyone, jumbled them up and made this one.
MC: This work is from an idol who's a resident of Tokyo, Ninomiya Kazunari-san. A work of a 24-year-old.
Sho: Oi...
MC: The title of the work is, "Muscle Home-run".
Sho: What is this exactly?
Ohno: This is a ball.
Sho: A baseball?
Ohno: Yes. Frankly, this one was the most troublesome.
Camera: Okay, I'm sorry, please look over here! Sakurai-san, over here please~! Okay! Thank you~ Please look over here. Okay!
Staff: It's surprisingly conspicuous over there.
Ohno: Eh?
Staff: It's surprisingly conspicuous over there.
Ohno: This feels so weird. Usually when it comes to a performance, I go out, but...
Staff: That's true.
Ohno: I'm hiding.
Staff: That's true.
Ohno: And I'm really nervous.
Staff: This doesn't happen often huh.
Ohno: Because I'm the one who made them, the creations, so of course I'd have fun looking at my own work.
Ohno: This is kind of perverted.
Staff: We've opened the hall~
Ohno: Aaaahh!
Ohno: I want to see the reactions, how they feel about my works but... well but, I want them to view the works comfortably.
Ohno: They're going at quite a slow pace. This is so touching.
Ohno: Well... they smiled, clearly. They went home enjoying it...
Ohno: I want to see their faces! Right?
Staff: It's amazing...
Ohno: I can watch this forever! I'll never get tired.
Ohno: A vow to darkness! These two swords... are demon fangs that will suck in your life blood!
"BAKUMATSU BANPU- ~Bakumatsu Banpu"
Guy: You're pretty good, young 'un!
"SENGOKU PUU-~ Sengoku Puu"
Ohno: For Sengoku Puu, it has a Sengoku Puu role where I dodge a lot and I don't use swords. Then for Bakumatsu I use swords. So, people asked what I'd do for Tensei... honestly, um, at the conference I didn't have the script. All I had was the summary. Well, but clearly, I have interest in the act of being manipulated, I do think that it'll be great if I can be seen in that way, so... yes, I researched quite a bit. Um... on kung fu while being pulled, like my hand flying out like that and such. Surprisingly, I like that sort of thing. Until now, I've had proper feudal roles but... for Tensei, I had to bring out a sense of my usual self... because it's a time slip, because it's a role of a modern person, I didn't know how to create the role at first.
Western dude: I know a lot about Japan, you know! Hey Terumi, you said you had someone to introduce to me, who is it? He's already here, over there, kya!
Guy: I have something to talk to you about.
Red: OHHH!
Guy: You bastard, what did you do to the boss!!
Guy: Do it, that usual thing!!
Ohno: Well, the cast members aren't the same but, the space that we work together in is somehow... even if we change members, it's the same. It feels like there's a space that exists only in the Puu series, I don't know about other stage plays though. Company... especially for Tensei Kunpu, I really felt the strength of the company, because it was the first time I met them. Until now I probably had the script to work with, and I performed with Kida-san's advice... but this time, well, there wasn't really a script but, on the other hand, what I thought was good was the way everyone was so frantic. The atmosphere of the desperation in everyone to become one... then it was done well for the actual performance so, we were very strongly united I guess. There wasn't any [pressure], it was a good form of anxiety. I didn't like that though, at the time. I was all, what should I do, what should I do!! But, at first, it was a spiral of deep emotions. It was good~
Ohno: I think Kida-san's a very smart person. It's like he really understands what entertainment is about... like he's trying to produce stage plays that people will never get tired of... the tempo is good, too. The tempo is good too, and the words he's trying to convey are clear and easy to understand. And everything comes in, there's emotions, and at the end, it touches you, so I really do honestly think that Kida-san is an amazing person.
Guy: In the end, this man is someone who's completely useless!
Ohno: I can't put my arms to use, but I can use my mouth! (*note: the phrase "ude ga tatsu" means to be talented, but "ude" on its own also means "arm", so Ohno's character plays with the phrase by replacing it with "mouth".)
Ohno: Kida-san said, "Oh-chan has this sort of aspect to him." I thought, "Eh, really, really?" So he created the script following the way I am, and when I act and pour my emotions in... I don't know if it's true or not, but I discover something new. "Ah, this part of me exists!" kind of thing. So he knows, it does feel like he sees through all of me.
Ohno: Hijikata-san! Hijikata-san~!!
Ohno: If you don't do it properly at rehearsals... I was told that I'd cry and wouldn't be able to say my lines. So I did it once with all my emotions at a rehearsal too, and when I learn that I can't say my lines there because my emotions are too strong, I change that. At rehearsals, I perform as though they're the real thing.
Ohno: This is... the place where we live. That's why... there's no way we'll die. Ever! This flag is... our life!!
Ohno: It always has that sort of situation, the Puu series. And it builds up further and further, so I get very tired!
[It's not over yet]
Guy: Not yet... not yet...
Ohno: It's a good play that makes you cry but, the words are good. The lines. They're words that can be used in any era. That's why, how wonderful the books that Kida-san writes are, and how truly wonderful the company is, thinking of it as something that is trying to convey those, that's how I watched the DVD.
