Watermelon might not be a bad thing for Stormy if she's overweight, really, unless watermelon isn't good for cats in general (I don't know for certain). It's mostly water, really, and a lot of people consider it a natural diuretic.

I don't know. It's mostly water, but it's also got a lot of sugar and I know cats generally ought to be on the Catkins diet. :-)

Although this particular melon might not have all that much sugar...

All and all I don't want to encourage her to eat people food, though. She's bad enough as it is! "Ooo, what's that you've got? Want to share?" :-)

Very good point about the sugar, as well as the people food, especially since I'm sure she's seen you eating it and is already curious. Watermelon is a gateway people food! ;)

Watermelon can apparently be frozen. Depending on how it thaws it might be a nice way to enjoy it year round.

This is the same problem I have with making cookies, only perhaps a bit healthier. My main solution is to give cookies away at work. Is there a practical means for distributing excess watermelon to colleagues?

I hear you!

I seem to recall hearing about popsicles made from watermelon... perhaps that is a solution? (Assuming you have a big enough freezer...)
