could be worse....

My mother's cat, Ellie, has three times now managed to fall into the bathtub while trying such stunts.
The freak out stage involves a great deal of distance, all of which gets very wet.
-----------------
My mother's cat Lissie has a better excuse for a similar incident. Once, when my mother's shower happened to have a very very slow drain she hadn't gotten fixed yet, Lissie followed her beloved mistress into the bathroom and actually got in between the outer curtain and the tub. When Mama finished her shower and pulled back the curtain, some drops of water fell on Lissie, who promptly jumped to safety--right into the tub of slowly draining water.
My mother's third cat, Dolley, seems to have better survival instincts than the other two.

Hee. :-)
Stormy once found out the hard way that it's best to check that the tub is empty before she jumps in, post-bath, to explore. The air was dry in the apartment one evening and I decided to let the bath water sit for a while before I drained it... and she basically did a cannonball right into the water. She was one soaked and unhappy cat!
