Co work

A good firend of mine helped me on this one sadly it was never finished

Cain taps her foot as she lets out a frustrated sigh, the warlock paces around the fountain in front of the of bank Stormwind searching the faces of the people around her.

‘Where in the world is she? She’s late I can not believe this!’ Cain thinks as she once again taps her foot on the cobblestones.  ‘Maybe this was a bad idea,’ she thought as she nervously tugged at her cindercloth dress. ‘What was I thinking!? Hi everyone, it’s nice to see you after three years of not speaking, oh by the way I’m no closer to bringing back Abel and hey I’M GAY!! Here is my girlfriend who used to be a PROSTITUTE!!!’

The young woman chuckled and shook her head as she thought ‘I can’t wait till daddy finds out I don’t think I will be able to hide the bruises under my hat this time.’ Cain crossed her arms and sighed sadly as her mismatched eyes fell to the street. ‘No, don’t think like that Cay, your better than this, it’s going to be fine’ she thought trying to calm herself down, ‘it’s going to be a pleasant afternoon with my Auntie Rita, Uncle Maddox, and Duncan…I hope’

Cain made another lap around the fountain looking for her love. ‘Rhyx, where in the bloody void are you? You always enjoy watching me squirm; she is lucky I love her so much or I’d figure out a way to turn her into a murlock or…something.’ Cain began to feel a sense of calm as she thought about Rhyx, The warlock had fallen quite hard for the rogue and couldn’t remember life without her even though it had only been a few short months since their first meeting. ‘Alright give it ten more minutes, if she isn’t here by then…. Then I will turn her into a murlock’ Cain chuckled aloud and took a seat on the edge of the fountain continuing to scan the faces around her with her mismatched eyes.

Gnomes are not cute, I don’t care what people say. Rhyx pondered to herself. Their childlike demeanor is only meant to lull us into a false sense of security.

She watched the innocent gnome rubbing his hands together greedily. “So that will be four ingots of pure Thorium, fourteen ingots of Mithril, and 4 fire elemental hearts…and you want this delivered in the middle of nowhere…” The gnome had a confident smirk “That’s going to be expenshive, bee-you-tee-full…unless you know a way of getting the price down.”

The gnomes ham fisted attempt at innuendo only made the thought of giving in to his lecherous desires that much more nauseating. Interaction with males would be so much easier if they couldn’t talk at all. Rhyx thought about the gnome’s offer and simply shook her head no. “Ship it as is…I won’t be taking the tiny weenie discount.” The gnomish dealer raised an eyebrow. “That’s why I love to work with you Rhyx, I either win or win!”

She walked back out of the foundry with an extra swivel of her hips, just to make the little bastard feel it. And before passing through the huge brass bound door she gave him the international symbol of non-cooperation in the form an upraised middle finger. The gnome chuckled. Those legs were twice his size, Shoni mused, but oh so worth the climb.

Shoni the silent my ass; he talks too much. Rhyx though to herself making the way down to the tram. Too bad he was the only source she knew to get military grade Mithril and Thorium. With the rationing due to the war primary resources were hard to come by and Shoni was in the necessary evil category. The tram was not as busy as it usually was. Traffic was brisk between Ironforge and Stormwind but today the suspended subway was strangely quiet.

“Hey lady… you’re gonna be waiting a while.” exclaimed a Dwarf with a mining helmet.

“Why is that?”

“Horde sent some kobolds with satchel charges to break the windows in the underwater tunnel. It made a mess and we are surveying the damage. Until we know the extent of the damage, the Tram isn’t moving.”

“How long?” asked Rhyx.

“Hours maybe even days, if anything is really broken.” said the dwarf looking forward to resuming his work.

“So what am I supposed to do now? I’m going to be late to Stormwind.”

The dwarf shrugged as if to say ‘not my problem’.

It would take hours to get to Stormwind on foot. Rhyx looked down at her boots trying to think of an answer.

“If you have money to burn you can always rent a trained griffon.” offered the dwarf. “otherwise your choices are pretty limited.”

Downtrodden, Rhyx thanked the helpful dwarf and went on her way.

Ironforge was probably the busiest place in all of the alliance: People going to and from on business. It’s were filled with thinly veiled dancers selling the promise of exotica and vendors screaming out their wares. Roots, ancient artifacts, and crab cakes, if someone looked long enough they can find anything in Ironforge. But first and foremost Ironforge was exactly that, a forge with a foundry right in the middle. The hot metal flowed around the trenches of the city like a river of molten sun.

There at the heart of the city, nested in a corner was the Griffon trainer. The proud beasts ate noisily at rats and other vermin. The trainer smiled at Rhyx.

“I’d like to rent a griffon for a trip to Stormwind.”

“Yes ma’am!” The trainer smiled, “That will be 10 silvers!”

“Excuse me?”

“10 silvers ma’am.”

“I heard you the first time! Doesn’t a griffon ride usually go for much less than that?”

“These are hard times lady… Have you heard of the tragedy down in the tram?”

“That’s why I’m here!”

“Exactly, that will be 10 silvers Ma’am.”

Rhyx reluctantly reached into her purse and gave the Trainer the money. A few moments later she was strapped onto a saddle on the Griffon’s back and was carried aloft into the sky on her way to Stormwind.

“That’s it…I’m going to kill her!” Cain said aloud as she sat on the edge of the fountain outside the Stormwind City Bank kicking her feet back and forth. The warlock closed her eyes and let out a long sigh as she attempted to allow the bright yellow sun and the gentle cool breeze to ease her nervousness and frustration. ‘My family must be furious by now! I cannot believe she would do this to me, of all days to disappear on me why did she pick today when I get my hands on her I’m going to…going to.”

Cain felt a twinge of guilt in her stomach as she thought ‘do what Cay? Hurt her? Haven’t you done enough to her already?’ the young girl’s memory flashed to the night of the stabbing and then to the other incident. ‘I shot her….I shot her at point blank…she didn’t even deserve it but yet she still comes home to me…I don’t deserve her…I never did.’ The guilt replaced the feeling of nervousness as Cain played with her sandals kicking them around in a small circle with her feet; she began to hum the song her mother used to sing to her in an attempt to feel better.

“Hey Drake did you hear what happened in the tram?”

“Yeah, there was some kind of explosion down there they said it was pretty bad”

Cain’s ears perked as she overheard the conversation between a gnome and human passing by on their way to the public mailbox.

“Was anyone down there?”

“I think so I heard they’ve been pulling out bodies for the better part of the morning sure wouldn’t want to know anyone trapped down there when the bombs went off”

Cain’s stomach wrenched in fear as her heart pounded in her ears, she remembered the note Rhyx had left on the table this morning something about going to Ironforge for supplies. ‘By the Void…was she down there?  Was she down there when it happened?’ The warlock began to panic as images of the rogue’s body trapped under the wreckage of the tram ran through her mind. ‘No…she’s fine…just calm down Cay she probably missed the explosion by hours, and is just stuck at the forge is all’ Cain took several deep breaths in an attempt to regain control of her heart rate.

The griffons! Cain jumped to her feet as she realized that the griffon trainer was nowhere near the tram in Ironforge. The young woman sprinted across the trade district. Knocking over pedestrians and leaping over the wears of vendors, she scrambled up the ramp as slammed into a large crowd of people who apparently had the same Idea she had.

The warlock looked at all the concerned faces of mothers’ fathers’ sons and daughters as they searched for family members, friends and loved ones. Mixed in with expressions of fear and worry were frustration and impatience as deliverymen, vendors and tradesmen tried to push their way through the masses in an attempt to catch a ride to reach their places of business. Cain sighed and moved to a corner of the landing area close to the exit/entrance, there she sat and attempted to wait patently for her lover.

‘Please be ok...please, there’s so much left to do so much left to say please be ok.’ Cain thought as a single tear rolled down her cheek

A pair of soft arms wrapped themselves lovingly around Cain’s waist from behind. “Looking for someone?” Rhyx whispered in her ear.

Cain’s quick turnaround sent the tear course faster down her fair cheek. “What’s this silliness?” Rhyx inquired looking at the trailing tear. “You know it’s going to take more than a few Kobolds with suicidal urges to take me down.” Rhyx cupped Cain’s face to plant a soft open-mouthed kiss on the warlock’s silken lips.

“This place is getting crowded…come on let’s go see those demons-in-law of mine.” Rhyx said as she took her stunned mate by the hand and lead her away from the crowd.

Cain stopped abruptly and pulled her arm back causing Rhyx to be jerked back toward the young human. Cain wrapped her arms tightly around the rogue holding her as close as possible breathing her in slowly “always showing off with your fancy entrances, you’ll be the death of me you know that right?” Cain said chuckling refusing to let go of elf.

The two separated slowly and Rhyx laughing at the comment bowed gracefully “yep that’s me the grim reaper herself.”

Cain playfully slapped Rhyx on the arm “Oh come on were already late Auntie Rita must be worried sick by now!”

The couple walked hand in hand down the ramp of the griffon station and through the U shaped roadway of the trade district towards the Cathedral Square.  The pair chatted along the canals, Cain dragging Rhyx away from the cart of a weapons vendor and Rhyx dragging Cain away from the window of a fabric shop, passers bye could not help nut notice how happy the duo were together.

As the couple moved closer to the square Cain became increasingly quite and nervous tugging at her dress and chewing on her thumbnail. Rhyx noticed the change in the warlock and grinned wickedly, “So…you want to ditch your family and go make out in the park instead?”

Cain nudged Rhyx playfully “Don’t tempt me” she said a nervous smile spread across the warlocks face.

“No, we have to do this…I have to do this” Cain let out a long sigh and rested her head against Rhyx’s arm Rhyx kissed Cain on the top of her head “I know shadow gem, I know.”

They entered the Square and made their way past the Cathedral of Light and down a large stretch of roadway Cain as a child called snooty street. This road way was lined with large Iron gates, which lead to the properties of the nobles of Stormwind, the duo walked several yards before stopping at a set of Iron gates adorned with a shield baring the Masters Family Crest. Two griffons facing one another crossing swords above the swords a star representing the families commitment to the light while underneath the swords and in-between the griffons a shield with an eloquently scripted M.

Cain nervously adjusted her dress and then looked over at Rhyx, she than began adjusting the rogues garb as well. “Ok…we can do this” the human said tightening the strings to Rhyx’s blouse. “Just walk in there and have a good time right? I mean they already disowned me what can they do now? Shoot me for trespassing? …. They can’t do that right…right?”

“No,” Replied the elf, “I don’t think they can.” The was enough time for one final check

“Okay Cain, it’s your lie. Let’s go over it again: I’m not your lover; I’m your room mate, even though there’s only one bed in the house... So I probably shack up under the dinner table with the tablecloth protecting my modesty.”

Cain was about to protests and was quieted with a wink from Rhyx.

“Second, I’m not an assassin, trouble shooter, bounty hunter. Heck I’m not even a high class escort…Oh no, I’m an ex-sentinel from Teldrassil, of all things! The only thing missing is you saying I’m from Everlook.” Rhyx looked down at her feet… “I almost feel like you’re ashamed of me.”

“Rhyx. You don’t understand them…I’m not ashamed of you… I’m ashamed of their preconceived notions. They are light blinded for the most part. I haven’t seen them in years. I don’t want to hit them with too many changes too fast.”

The night elf sniffed the air “Smells like a lie…what’s the real story.”

Cain sighed heavily “I’m scared Rhyx, I’m scared that HE’LL find out and finish what he started.”

“Oh I would love to watch him try to lift his hammer at you again. I’d show him that things have indeed… changed.” The elven assassin smiled in glee thinking of the veritable plethora of explosive and chemical compounds she would like to try out on her lover’s progenitor and tormentor.

The possibility of having two loved ones killing one another didn’t please the red-haired warlock. There had been enough death in her family.

Cain held her mate’s hand trembling slightly “Please love, do it for me.”

“Fine, you win…” Rhyx bowed and saluted the warlock “Master Sergeant Rhyxalia Swiftwind of the 69th Nightsaber cavalry division reporting for duty ma’am.”

“I didn’t know your last name was Swiftwind!” claimed Cain.

“It’s not… though she does exist… or at least did…” Rhyx shrugged “She’s missing in action since the battle against Archimonde. I thought she wouldn’t mind me borrowing her name.”

“Well then Mrs. Swiftwind, shall we go?” smiled Cain.

“Lead on, Mrs. Masters.” Rhyx smirked thinking of all the stupid things we do for love.
