aww Cains heart is broken, actually you wan to read this one before "More than perfect"
Cain stomped into her apartment and slammed the door behind her, she gabbed her pack and began throwing cloths and a few other personal Items inside. ‘That is it I have had it!’ she thought as she stomped back towards the door. Cain and Rhyx had a fight a few hours before some silly tiff over something trivial but it was big enough for Cain to say it was over between them.
‘I can’t believe she could be so insensitive!! I have no idea what I was thinking getting involved with someone like that!!’ Cain thought as she slammed the apartment door shut again and walked briskly down the street toward Rivers house.
Maybe she would let Cain sleep on her bare skin rug until she could move all of her things back into the guildhall. The couple had fights in the past, and a lot bigger than this one some involving physical contact in some shape or form, but it was just the accumulation of all the little things that finally popped in the warlocks mind, and heat.
Cain reached River’s home and to her disappointment the lights were out and the door was locked ‘Blast she must be sleeping…I do not want to wake her’ the young woman thought as she sat down on the front steps of the home and sighed. She looked up and down the cobblestone street trying to figure out what to do next. She could simply stay at the inn for the evening but Cain new she wouldn’t be able to sleep anyway, she never could after she and Rhyx fought. Cain stood slowly and made her way toward the mage quarter.
The young warlock walked passed the closed and dark shops, she never realized how empty and somewhat freighting it was to be out in the city alone at night. She never really had to think about though she quipped as she always had Rhyx’s arm to hold on to this late at night…’No! don’t start guilt yourself Cay, its her fault she is the one in the wrong’ she thought as she began walking up the hill of the mage quarter.
The Blue Recluse was still open so Cain decided to have a nightcap to figure out what she was going to do. She sat down at one of the outside tables and noticed all the happy couples sitting around her, she looked up at the side of the building and rolled her eyes. There was a banner hanging on the wall that said “Couples Night! Drinks Half Off!!” a waitress walked up to Cain and asked for her order. Cain sighed and ordered ale, “So are you waiting for you special someone?” the waitress asked with a bright smile. Cain glared angrily at the waitress with her dark eye “No, just get my drink please” the waitress backed away slowly “Ye…yes ma’am…r…right away” she turned quickly and ran into the restaurant.
Cain sighed and rubbed her eyes ‘that was horrible…maybe I should go apologize’ Cain always had a bit of a temper, she kept in check most of the time and that’s why most people thought Cain was “such a nice girl” with a “Quiet demeanor” yeah…right, Rhyx could attest to how bad Cain could get….’damn it …why can’t I stop thinking about her?’
Cain looked around at the couples at other tables holding hands looking into each others eyes, playing footsie under the table the young woman’s mind flashed back to one of the first dates Rhyx and Cain ever went on, the awkwardness she felt and the confidence she saw in the Night Elf’s beautiful glowing eyes. She shook her head and snapped back into reality and looked at the empty chair in front of her, a twinge of sadness and guilt crept in. ‘It wasn’t all bad…was it?”
The warlock’s thoughts were interrupted by the return of the waitress she slowly placed the mug in front of Cain and backed away slowly. Cain didn’t even acknowledged the girl she just stared into the mug and thought about all the fun times she and Rhyx had in the four months they had been together and how incredibly stupid the fight was.
Once again, Cain’s train of thought was interrupted this time by a voice to her left; she looked over to see a young man on his knee in front of a young woman. “Kate…you’re I fight, the reason I live and breath. You’re my sun and moon…will you do me the honor of becoming my wife.” The man said as he lifted a small box containing a ring, Kate just looked into the young mans eyes with a look of joy and shock on her face, she couldn’t speak all she could do was nod her head.
“Is…is that a yes?” the man said raising his eyebrows, “Yes, yes I will!” Kate finally spoke as she lunged forward hugging her now fiancé. The man lifted her up off the ground and spun about, “She said yes!! Were getting married!!” The rest of the patrons applauded the happy couple as they embraced lovingly, Cain sighed and also applauded as well wondering hoe she would react if she were asked that question.
The warlocks mind began to wonder again as she saw Rhyx down on one knee holding box containing a silver band with a small shadow gem mounted in it. Cain snapped back into reality and once again gazed at the empty seat across from her, she moved her mismatched eyes from the chair to her still full mug of ale and sighed again, she slowly stood from the table dropped a few silver and left.
Kicking a small stone Cain wondered towards the slaughtered lamb, ‘Maybe Master Gakin can help me figure things out…then again…maybe not’ Cain chuckled to herself as she noticed an elderly couple sitting by the well. “Happy anniversary my love.” The old man said holding his wife close “oh Howard, these past 50 years with you have been a dream come true.” ’50 years…wow…’ Cain thought as she stood pretending not to eaves drop “Yes they have Margaret” Howard said, “we’ve seen our share of ups and downs and silly fights and squabbles but I have loved you for 50 years and I will for 50 more.”
Cain’s heart sank as guilt filled her stomach ‘I am such an idiot’ she thought as she looked at the elderly couple stand and walk towards home hand and hand. Her mind flashed to the future she and Rhyx cuddled up next to one another Cain now old and gray looking up into Rhyx’s face only showing minimal wear from the sands of time. ‘all this time…I thought I had it all figured out…I couldn’t have been more wrong.’
The warlock stood for a moment trying to summon up the courage to admit she was wrong and her pride was in the way. Cain began to run home sprinting past the elderly couple and down the hill toward the tiny apartment she rounded the corner and stopped on the front steps, Cain could see the figure of the Eleven rogue in the window and smiled all the images that had flashed in her mind that night all coming together into a collage of joy and love from past to present to future. Cain walked the steps slowly and gently opened the door; she stepped inside with a tear rolling down her cheek and a smile on her face.
“Honey…I’m home.”
