It is not funny how much I can relate to this. And also that saying "Well, look at the positive side." or changing the subject to something that might cheer them up can give people the idea that I don't take their problems seriously. I just don't know what to say and by talking too much about it, things just get depressing. ^^"
Here's what I'd do: grab a good book or a nice DVD (or whatever you got handy) that makes you happy. ^^" Exactly. Or I start making jokes about it. A good distraction makes one easily feel better!
Perhaps that's a bit too pragmatic? Or maybe there's another type of person that needs to talk about them feeling badly to feel better.

My thoughts exactly. I guess you got the kind of people that need to talk about their problems, and the kind that needs distraction from them. And for both kinds, you got people who can offer the respective response - only we're more of the distraction kind.
And for both kinds, you got people who can offer the respective response - only we're more of the distraction kind. And that's why my talking always fails - maybe I finally should learn just to listen. ^^"
