Harry Potter meme - 30 Days in 1 Day~

Aug 14, 2011 21:57

See last meme, no sense in dragging this out over a whole month. ^^x

Day 1 - Your favorite book.
It used to be #5, but I also harbor a profound love for #6. Now I can't quite decide. Umbridge frustrated me to no end, she riles me up to the point where I wanted to throw the book against a wall - it was awesome! #6 hat Slughorn, a character I like for some reason, as well as a lot of backstory about Snape. ♥ Yeah, I might have to go for #6. (#7 was great, too, but I missed Hogwarts throughout the book, so...)

Day 2 - Your favorite movie
I never much liked the first few movies, especially the third one had a lot of aspects that bothered me (like leaving out a lot of information about the Marauders and the horrible choice of actors for Sirius and Remus), but starting with the 4th one the movies definitely got better, imo.
Even though I saw all the movies quite recently I'm tempted to say that I'd have to watch them again to make a final choice here. For now I think I'd have to go with 7.2. Come Tuesday it will be one on the only two HP movies I've seen twice in the cinema (the other was #5).

Day 3 - Have any of the film adaptations made you angry because they’ve ignored important parts of the books?
#3. As said above, I strongly disliked the actors they chose for Sirius and Remus, I would have liked a bit more information about the Marauder's map and its origins, and Harry's patronus didn't look enough like a stag for my taste (the patroni btw are almost always bothering me in the movies). Also #6 because Dumbledore didn't tell Harry much at all about the origins of the Horcruxes and how to find them.

Day 4 - Least favorite female character.
Molly Weasley, for reminding me of Debbie from Queer as Folk.
Trelawney, for being utterly useless and incompetent as a teacher.

Day 5 - Favorite male character.
Snape, Slughorn and Draco.
No, I do not want to narrow it down, thank you very much.
The first time I realized that I liked Snape more than just any character was toward the end of the 4th novel, when he explained how the dark mak worked. The scene where he said how all the Death Easters had to apparate at Voldemort's side made cold shivers run down my spine. I paid close attention to him after that and grew to like him even more.
Slughorn: I can't quite tell you why, but I find him adorable. He's not a very moral character, "befriending" students for his own benefits (as well as theirs, one has to admit) and collecting them, but I like him. He'd certainly not evil, but definitely out of his own gain, which are typical traits for a Slytherin without making him an outright evil character as some people tend to do with that house.
Draco, now, I always expected more of him, and part of me always wanted him to come around and "see the light". ^^;; Especially after Voldemort returned in GoF I was kind of thinking Draco might have to make a hard choice, whether or not to follow in his father's steps. Aw well. I liked hrom pretty much from the start, but he made the top three because I got into him after cosplaying him. He's actually a really talented wizard, I hadn't realized that before. (Also: ferrets are cute.)

Day 6 - Your House.
HUFFLEPUFF.
There's not even a question there. Ever since I first thought about what house I might be sorted into (which I never did until watching the 5AG youtube channel) I knew that Hufflepuff was it. Helga Hufflepuff decided that she'd accept and teach any student, as long as they were willing to learn, and to work hard. I think the members of this house are open minded and accepting, and traditionally helpful and caring, though the latter are mostly interpretations. Huffles don't discrimminate as much as other houses might, it's not in their nature.
(lol @ the fact that all my fav characters are Slytherins XD)

Day 7 - Favorite female character.
This is a hard one for me. Luna, maybe, oh and McGonagall, that woman is bad ass! >D
Luna is a bit weird even by most wizards' standards which makes her something of an outcasts who gets bullied a lot (people hide her things and don't include her in group activities, and she mentions herself that she doesn't have any friends). Despite all that she doesn't conform to what others believe is 'normal', and that is something I find admirable. Evanna Lynch is also a great choice for her actress!
McGonagall is a very competent, skilled and strict teacher, things that I personally like in teachers. =) She does have a sense of humor though, and one wouldn't have to know she's a Gryffindor to tell she's a brave woman. Much love for her throughout the books, though she doesn't appear as often as I'd have liked (seeing how she's head of Gryffinfor and part of the Order of the Phoenix).

Day 8 - What do you think would be your favorite lesson?
Charms, I think, because it covers a broad field of spells, most of which are rather useful.
I believe a huge part of how good one is in Transfiguration is to imagine the change, and provided that my imagination covers that, I might quite like that subject as well.
I'd probably suck at Potions though despite finding it interesting (like Chemistry at school). Snape isn't exactly a good teacher (he's unfair and mean without reason, thinking lowly of many of his students, which doesn't strike me as the right qualities for a good teacher; few students would enjoy that.

Day 9 - Least favorite male character.
Hagrid and Ron.
Hagrid is not exactly the brightest bulb in the box, and even though I believe he knows a fair bit about magical creatures he's a lost cause as a teacher. I don't understand why Dumbledore would let him keep the position instead of Professor Grubby-Plank who's clearly more qualified for the job as any student would confirm.
I have similar reasons for disliking Ron: he doesn't strike me as very intelligent (which is something I highly value, as you might have noticed). I don't care that he's got the heart in the right place or whatever, he's annoying me most of the time.

Day 10 - Horcruxes or Hallows?
Hallows. =)
Why would I want to split my soul? Not to mention the fact that I don't want to live forever.

Day 11 - What character would you say you are most like?
Uh... dunno? Seriously, no idea. Don't much care either.

Day 12 - Favorite ship.
Snape/Harry and James/Severus.
Also: Scorpius/Albus
I once read a fanfic called Diamons in the Dust which left me a rather adamant Snarry shipper. ^^;; Yes, I know they hate each other. I never said this ship was a love story.
James/Severus is easier to ship, their canon relationship screams to be slashyfied (imho, that is)! Lily? Sorry, couldn't care less about her.
Never mind their names, I liked the kids from the moment I saw them. I love to speculate about which house they might have been sorted into and how they relationships might have unfolded. (Snarky writes them nicely.)

Day 13 - Least favorite movie.
#3, I think I've listed all of my reasons already.

Day 14 - Team Voldemort or Team Harry?
Team Harry. =)
(Seriously, who'd want to be on Voldemort's side? I'm not saying Tom isn't an example of a social system that leaves much to be desired, but still, he's not just missunderstood, he's a greade A psychopath.

Day 15 - Who would be your best friends at Hogwarts?
I'm not someone who runs after book characters when imagining myself in Hogwarts.

Day 16 - Who is your favorite Death Eater?
Snape and Draco. =)
For reasons why: see above.

Day 17 - Are you excited about the Deathly Hallows movies or scared they won’t do the book justice?
Already saw them. I liked some of the changes and additions, and disliked others and thought scenes were lacking. That's just how these things are, but I found that overall they were good movies. (The books are ALWAYS better than the movies!)

Day 18 - Least favorite book.
Erm... dunno, I liked them all! If I had to chose one, probably one of the first three; I generally liked the later books better.

Day 19 - Do you prefer the books or the movies?
BOOKS. ♥

Day 20 - If you got to meet one member of the cast, who would it be?
Either Tom Felton or James and Oliver Phelps.

Day 21 - Out of all the characters that died, if you could bring one back, who would it be?
Arrrrgh... Snape and Fred, don't make me pick!
I would have loved for Snape to live, but George is so horribly incomplete without his twin, in a way that can never be fixed. JKR even said that he'd never be able to summon a patronus again. T^Tx

Day 22 - Harry Potter or Twilight?
How is that even a question?
I'm not saying you can't like Twilight. You can, obviously, but that doesn't make it a good book. It's badly written, end of story (and yes, I've read those books, all four of them).

Day 23 - Any part of the books or movies that makes you cry?
I cry easily when reading or watching movies. I don't remember all the scenes that made me tear up; the last one was during movoe 7.2 when Snape found Lily's body. ;__;x

Day 24 - Any particular scene you wished would have been put in the movie, but wasn’t?
Can't think of any particular scene right now, but I bet there were a few.

Day 25 - Re: Nineteen Years Later. Are you happy with how it turned out, or do you wish something was different?
I wish Snape and Fred would have lived, but mostly I liked the last chapter. =)

Day 26 - What would your Patronus be?
I do love tigers, but I'd imagine a little monkey or squirrel would suit me better. ^^;;

Day 27 - Would you rather own the Invisibility Cloak, The Resurrection Stone or The Elder Wand?
The cloak. The stone is useless, the wand might as well be cursed, but the cloak has so many cool applications I don't even know where to begin.

Day 28 - Do you listen to Wizard Wrock? What do you think about it?
It's either Wrock or Wizard Rock, pick one. =P
In any case, much love for Wizard Rock! I first came into contact with it when watching the 5AG on youtube (because several of them are in bands). Two of ma favorite artists in this area are Ministry of Magic and Butterbeer Experience.

Day 29 - A Very Potter Musical.
...and it's cool, and it's totally awesome!
GOD, their Draco is so brilliant, and Harry is such a great singer! ♥

Day 30 - What impact has Harry Potter made on your life and how much does it mean to you?
Through Harry Potter I discovered a talent for life action role play (if you can call it that) and I made quite a few friends that way. And I'm only just at the beginning of that!
Last movie or not, I'm not ready to part with this fandom just yet. =)
