keep your eyes on the prize

I've always known my eyes were "buggy". Kids teased me about them in school, asked if I would ever go on the "Guinness Book of World Records" television show and try to pop them out of my head. I said no.

I have a friend who says, usually only if I'm opening my eyes wide, that he can't look at them because they make his eyes water. Thanks ( Read more... )

Victor Borge says that a man with one eye can see more than a man with two eyes, because the man with one eye can see the other man's two eyes, but the man with two eyes can only see the other man's one eye.

I think that works for women too.

I think that should make you feel better.

Friend, I too had frequent bouts of pinkeye growing up. My favorite thing about it is a) how contagious it is, like all you have to do is think about someone and, BAM, they have it, b) how the incubation period is two weeks, so you think everything is A-OK for thirteen days and then, BAM, you have it, and c) how you're totally contagious all the way through the incubation period too, so you don't even know anything's wrong and then, BAM, your whole apartment has it. I think we used to burn all our stuffed animals when we got pinkeye, or at least quarantine them to the garage to spend months in plastic bags. Or maybe that was headlice. Also a joy.

You know what's really remarkable, though? How you can sometimes get pinkeye in one eye, and NOT THE OTHER. But everyone around you can have it. It's one of my Questions for God.
