In a period of desperation, years ago, I took a job as a telephone solicitor. I made myself stick with it for a week, but I hated every soul-sucking minute of it. I have retained a distaste for telephones ever since! I just recently relented and allowed my husband and son to talk me into a cell phone, because of my monthly trips on the highway to the doctor's office. However, I don't turn it on, and I usually don't carry it. I have a prepaid plan, and I'm thinking I should be able to make the minutes last for an eternity!
I'm glad the new job is a better fit. Perhaps it will grow into something more full-time and permanent. Or lead to something wonderful.
Ugh. Phone solicitor sounds worse than what I was doing. At least the people calling me were already sold on whatever it was they were purchasing.
I have a pretty basic cell phone myself, but I'm used to carrying it everywhere-a holdover from my business. Both Crewman and Jedi have the newest apple phone, but I just don't see the need to have the ability to display a lit candle or a pretend gun that shoots on your phone, much less watch itty bitty movies.
Btw,I was sorry to read about your MIL-my condolences for your loss.
Hmm, I should have that, or I could just toast some Post Toastees.
The job is better than the call center, although not nearly enough to keep me in faux mink or even ratty otter. Now there's an animal to hug-ratty otter. Anyway, I'm still searching.
I really really disliked the call center, so yeah, a definite improvement there, although the hours were starting to grow on me. There's a sort of clandestine feel to working when everyone else is asleep that was fun.
This is so odd-LJ is saying that you posted this at 10:16 am when it's only 5:20 a.m. here and I know you're not five hours ahead of me.

Good luck with the job -- hope it goes full time for you, or at least pays the bills in some way.
