I've just finished reading it, and I must say that IT IS AWESOME! :D Seriously, you've captured their personalities neigh nigh perfectly! I can really imagine them as if they were from the show. I love the part where they staged the suggestion for Twilight to loosen from her studies as if it were an intervention (one in which Dash isn't very keen on playing along). Also your leadin into the magical oops is very plausable and interesting, I really like that you took the time to construct a nice backstory to fram this one. And your Pinkie - Twilight interactions made me laugh quite a bit of times. Things looks like they're going pretty well for them so far until Twilight said those dreaded five-word phrase. It's like the shorthand for the to-the-letter application of Murphy's law. I can't wait to see what happens next. :)
So thank you so much for your gift! Have you considered submitting this to Fimfiction? I really wish there are more good light-hearted comedies in the fandom, and you've provided it brilliantly.
Yay I'm so glad you like it so far! I'll be submitting it to fim fiction once I've posted the second part (I've been doing overtime at work so I'm still cleaning it up a little bit). I haven't submitted to FimF before, so I wasn't sure if they have an automatic policy like other archive or if It needed to be approved (since it looks like they have an approval queue of some kind)
Fimfiction, as far as I can tell, does implement an approval system. But they just check for any flagrant violation of policy. It's explained somewhat tongue-in-cheek here: http://www.fimfiction.net/blog/14005
I mean if this thing got in, then the approval process should be the least of your worries. ;) If you need any help editing it, the peeps at Training Grounds on /fic/ should provide a load of constructive critique (as a warning, some of them can be pretty ruthless). I would offer to edit it myself, but I can't really tell my comma splices from my Future Semiconditionally Modified Subinverted Plagal Past Subjunctive Intentional tenses. :P
Anyway, take as much time as you need. You've already hosted an excellent gift exchange where I've had the immense pleasure of participating in, and I don't want any additional work to pressure you further. :)
ahhhh cool! thanks for the link! They do things differently from practically every other archive evar so I wasn't sure of their process. It'd totally have sucked if I'd posted and thought I was fine and then no joy. woe! As I said, I wanted to be relatively on-time, and I could do that here on LJ easypeasy. Figured I could finally post something to my fim acct when I wasn't looking at a deadline after significant RL overtime (ugh)
