Turns out I could afford Cremation after all, with the county animal control facility. of course, AFTER I do that I find that I could have buried her in a nice secluded forest near my apartment

As long as the stuff has "enzymes" in it it should be good for getting the smell out. Soak the carpet, spray down the walls, same thing for any curtains or soft objects. Soft things, like couches and stuffed animals, tend to hold on to odors a lot. Are you going to be moving soon? The landlord can't require you to replace carpet or paint walls unless you are vacating the premises. And even then I don't know what the laws are in your state for "normal wear and tear" because some places you pretty much CAN'T charge for painting walls EVER unless there is some sort of proof that the tenant deliberately damaged the paint, painted the place a different color, that kind of thing. You can try the vinegar/water mix, but I don't know how effective that would be really. I did hear someone say once that you should leave a bowl of it out and uncovered in a room with smells and that would like suck up the odors. But I don't know. Also, baking soda for carpets works good too. But if it is cat urine odor, like if the cat peed directly on
