Hit a deer tonight while driving home from Game Group. As they are prone to do, it came out of nowhere, getting halfway across the street before realizing the math didn't work out as planned. Thankfully, the car stops very well (as has been tested before by other critters; do they just want to know if The Other Side is as good as the chicken says

I've always been afraid of that happening to me in such deer-populated areas. Glad you, the deer, and your vehicle are all ambulatory.

Wow. I'm glad you and the car are okay, and that the deer seems to be more-or-less so as well.

Your line about the Other Side had perhaps unintentional resonance. The chicken crossing the road jokes came immediately to mind, of course -- but so did the neopagan notion of death as being on the Other Side of some kind of veil, perceptible only to those who've crossed it. Eek.
