literal signal boosting

Anybody have any experience with antennae for wireless cards? Do they help substantially in getting a good signal from nearby networks? I ask because the new laptop has found some open networks down by the beach, but the signal is spotty from each. Yes, yes, I know, my life is rough.

No experience of that kind, sorry, but I will be curious as to what you find out from others.

Also, do you have to walk to the beach up hill both ways through blinding sandstorms or snow or carrying fardels on your back? Or do you just kind of mosey on over in your flip flops? For the record, I don't hate you. Not even a little. :)

Umm... it's pretty humid? I need to buy a hat so that the fragile, melanin-less skin on the top of my balding head doesn't crisp? And did I mention that it's quite humid?
