Cool, thanks - I'm likely going to have to take advantage of that offer, 'cause I'm not feeling the wakefulness. Or, more aptly, it's coming in rolling little waves... while I listen to music WAAAAY too mellow to help. I think I need to put something a little harder in! And get some caffeine after I've done a few more pages. God bless the vending machines at every stop outside! (But not Diddy Riese's. I couldn't help but get an ice cream sandwich. Mmm. I think that's part of why I'm so tired - sugar and carbs. Even my run won't help THAT.)
yep, i should be in the Santa Monica area about 10:30pm for an audition if I get out of work early enough to make it. I should be done with that about 11.
Best of luck to you!!!cruciverbalistApril 28 2003, 00:56:29 UTC
Duuude. I'm obviously not in your boat but I can commiserate, Finals week is the craziest time of the quarter. Do they still do the midnight yell?
I could tell you how I managed to stay awake last night on my drive home but unfortunately I don't think it would help you get a better grade on your final.. lol.

Ah, but I'm still curious! How'd you stay awake? I had no method, and I think that's why it was such a groggy, half-awake kind of beast.
Remy Zero is DEFINITELY doing the trick. I think I have at least one similar CD in there, so I should be okay. Much as I love Frances Dunnery, I'm not really sure what I was thinking when I slipped him in my CD case, too. FD at 3am? Not a good thing. Well, it IS, if you're just laying there with a lovely boy and listening to good music. But THAT is another story, as they say at the end of the Neverending Story, which I loooooooove. Not that it has anything to do with staying awake in the computer lab, really. (It's so much easier keeping exchanges up - when I'm nodding off, I'll hear the beep alerting me there's a new message, which perks me right up. :)

Haahaha, well, it's not really a method, but it helped when I put the Ladytron cd (or anything with a good beat would work, I guess) on, really loudly, and danced as I drove. I guess the movement helped keep me awake, and also rolling down the windows and having a cold blast of 80mph wind your face sort of helps too. But like I said, I guess you can't really do that when you're studying in a computer lab, lol.

I could actually kinda dance. Everyone here has clearly been up even longer than I have, and I don't think they'd even notice. These are the hard-core students - a couple are in their pyjamas, unwashed and perfectly in their element. Strangely enough, I LOVE this environment. I just can't enjoy it for more than a few days a year.
Frances Dunnery is an older English singer who does some beautiful, uplifting kinds of songs, a bit like the Beatles but cleaner. He does that car commercial song that everyone knows: "I wish that - I knew what I know now - when I was younger..." Aaaah, how I love him!
