Last stop for dreams

Harry Chapin's Taxi increases my melancholy as I think of how our adult lives don't quite match the dreams our younger selves had for them, generally speaking:

she took off to find the footlights
I took off to find the sky...

When I was little I really believed I could fly
I refused to believe my parents that people who told me I couldn't and I jumped of a container
I contused my ankle when I landed on the ground ..When I came home my parents yelled a bit at me but later they sort of laughed about the whole me trying to fly thing
I never tried it again
