Hm, I just finished watching the new SyFy (I miss the old name) show Stargate Universe this morning.
It's a pretty good show. It seems more character driven then the other SG shows I've seen in the past. But, that being said, I think the reason why is that it seems to be this odd combination of the regular SG shows we're used to and BSG. Seriously. I mean, we have a crew of people who get transported onto this big ship that all most want to do is get home to earth, but they're lost. And the entire time I was watching it, all I kept thinking was that the Dr. Rush character is SG answer to Gaius Baltar. He even has Baltar's haircut. Or maybe that's just the standard scientist-who-is-slightly-off-and-may-or-may-not-be-entirely-good-or-bad-in-these-shows haircut. I haven't decided which. Now, yeah, you've got some stuff that is completely SG (the mythology, some older characters, the crazy genius kid who is very funny), but it still seems to be influenced by BSG. I don't know. Maybe it's just the BSG fan in me that's seeing some paralelles. But if that senator woman (who is played by the same girl who used to be the communications officer on Enterprise gets put in charge of the civilians, then we'll really know). Anyway, this is just my opinion. It's a pretty good watch, and I'll probably be tuning in to see what's going on next week.
