Then came Apolo. JR had been nursing a crush on him even longer than he’d been privately dressing in drag. As they grew to be friends, and eventually roommates, that crush turned into something more. The two teammates got close and shared their secrets, fears, and hopes for the future, and JR started wondering if Apolo was the one person he could trust to keep his secret. He eventually decided that he was being ridiculous and made up his mind to never tell a soul

When one hand grabbed JR’s hip, he flinched, preparing himself for a punch to the face. But instead, Apolo’s other hand caressed JR’s face, a thumb moving over the lipstick, smearing it

Oh my god, love it. Goooorgeous. I agree that the ending was a little "whoa" but then you made it work! And the descriptions of JR in drag were so friggin hot.
