“Oh, you wound me to the heart.” Evan pretended to clutch at his chest and Johnny laughed, like, he actually laughed. It wasn’t loud and it wasn’t long but it seemed real, and Evan felt strangely gratified. He hadn’t got on so badly with Johnny when they’d been younger - Johnny had seemed nice, and then there had been that whole thing and it had all got kind of messed up. He felt like he was starting to get smarter about things like that, though. It was easier to be himself when Anna was around to be filmed with, someone he was actually working with instead of against. When they were being filmed during practise he often forgot that he was Evan Lysacek Olympic Champion and kind of turned into Evan The Dork, who right now Johnny seemed to like more, anyway ( ... )

“Yet you’re letting me sit backstage at your TV show,” Johnny drawled. “I don’t think you hate me as much as you make out, Lysacek.”

“He doesn’t,” Anna put in.

“I hate you the most,” Evan told her.

“What’ve you been confessing?” Johnny said, a note of something that sounded weirdly like cruelty in his voice. “Your secret lust for me? Did you come out to her with your secret adoration for me?” He was laughing over at Evan, and it was weird: his hair was very dark and his eyes were very green and his skin was very white, and it was like he perfectly contrasted with himself.

Evan didn’t know why he was suddenly finding Johnny Weir so freaking aesthetically pleasing. He said heatedly: “Speaking of coming out, what the hell was that interview about?”

“What interview?” Johnny asked, all wide-eyed and innocent like he didn’t know exactly what Evan meant.

“You are such a douchebag, Weir. Chelsea Handler. You know me and Tanith were for real!”

“You were?” Anna said interestedly. Why did she never believe him? Evan hated her.

Oh, that's such a wonderful beginning! I like "Chasing The Sun" a lot, but I'm a sucker for first time fics and I love this one: the antagonism, the moment of camaraderie, Evan being upset about the Chelsea Handler debacle, Anna understanding what's going on so much better than Evan does. ♥ ♥ ♥

OMG, THIS IS AMAZING!!! I legit squee'd when I saw this fic! I love the banter between them- the dialogue was great! And your Anna was perfect!

OMG THIS IS FANTASTIC, I AM SO HAPPY YOU DECIDED TO WRITE IT. I hope it becomes equal priority-wise to the other one, because it really is brilliant. And I love Anna.

This is very cute, seems very true to both of them, and I loooooove the dialogue. To be honest, I'm more excited for more of this than I am for the original fic!

I cannot express my adoration for this fic. I seriously just typed out an incoherent paragraph of compliments and praises while internally squealing. Needless to say, I just deleted the whole thing; it was embarrassing. >_>'

But, please, keep on writing the prequel AND "Chasing The Sun".

Evan hadn’t thought that Johnny could make specific bitch faces. He’d thought that that was just the way his face went naturally.
