Johnny is a Russian prince in imperial Russia.

He is the second oldest boy, and second-in-line for the throne. His older brother has health issues though (as those Russian princes tend to), and the Tzar and Tzarina are eager to arrange a marriage for Johnny ASAP just in case.

Enter a Swiss princess, Johnny's wife-to-be. She and a contingent of her family and Swiss dignitaries come to Russia, and Johnny is meant to begin a courtship with her. However, he just can't take his eyes off her brothers, Stephane.

(Ignore the fact that an arranged Russian/Swiss marriage would never happen in Imperial Russia haha.)

(ALTHOUGH, if anon wanted to be historically "correct" they could make Stephane from the royal House of Habsburg, which was originally Swiss, though ended up mostly in Austria.)
