(Alright, so I'm testing the theory that I'll post more than my usual once every two week spurt if I focus more on twitter like lines, generally on whatever book I'm starting, music I'm liking, or so on, not what I had for lunch, and maybe whatever else springs into my head. I'm trying to get into using Facebook/Twitter more, but more as something ( Read more... )

Wizard's First Rule was my favorite book, or at least in my favorite series of books, when I was in junior high -- not that I'm saying it's a childish book (because it really isn't), but I've really expanded my horizons a lot, have read more than fantasy at this point, and yeah. But it is a good book. I hated where he took the series later on, several books later. He starts pushing his economic philosophy too much (It's Ayn Rand philosophy), but that won't really happen in WFR. I think it is definitely rewarding if you're into the sort of thing. Being that you like BDSM, I'm going to tell you to definitely finish it. :P

This is my first fantasy book in a very, very long time, I generally stick to darker fiction or horror, so I have to say hearing in a review that the dissection part of the book just took it -too far- is definitely what made me want to read the book. o.o I'm trying to give fantasy more of a chance, but I'm pretty picky, do you know of anything else that's on the darker edge of fantasy that isn't just trashy 'Urban Romance'? I don't think I'll mind the Randian stuff, as I've read some of her work and enjoyed it. We'll see.

I would say Terry Goodkind can be pretty dark, but he is not throughout. When there is a dark moment, he is good at conveying that though, and there are dark moments. You will know what I'm talking about when you get to them. Especially in sequels, he becomes very graphic with twisted torture methods and things like that.

But I would say the fantasy I read back when I read fantasy was mostly high fantasy. You'd have to ask someone else.

There is also romance in WFR, but it isn't really trashy.

I find twitter quite pointless on a personal level, I use it to follow some businesses/blogs but other than that I just cannot get into it.

I generally follow the headline news and stuff and use it (currently) to write quite notes about what I'm reading or listening to so maybe I'll remember to write about it later. I tend to write bigger posts and by the time I get around to it, I forget half of what I wanted to write about in the first place.
