If a family member said they were taking some time to themselves to get away and think...and they said they would be incommunicado for a while...how long would you wait to hear from them before getting concerned ( Read more... )

It would really depend on how often I talk to them to begin with.

It's just not normal for my dad to do this...that's all...I just didn't want to get all drama queen on people for no reason.

Do you have any reason to be concerned? Like, is he depressed or acting differently? I mean, yeah, wanting to be alone and being incommunicado might be considered odd but is there anything else that would make you feel concerned? He probably needed some time to grieve and deal with his emotions about his father passing or just to see where his life was going and how to improve. I mean, everyone has different reasons to do that. I did it because I needed to get centered and back into balance. His reasons are his own. Keep the lines of communication open no matter what. I wish I had a better answer for you...

He finally called on Friday...I had to ask my grandmother to ask him to call. He's okay, and we're flying down to Miami together in March.
