Being the nerd that I am, summer is my time to read way more books than the average person deems necessary. During the school year I go through about 30-40 books, most of which we read way to fast and analyze to death. Summer is my time to walk up and down the shelves of the library and select any book I want. Sometimes I grab one just because I

I read Lolita last year. It was better than i thought it was going to be, but just not quite my cup of tea, I don't think.

"I Wanna Be Your Joey Ramone" sounds interesting, because I saw SLC Punk and thought it was brilliant. I will never forget that scene at the end (no spoiler for random readers). I'm interested in how you compare the two. As I'm also a big music fan, and I've also read "Please Kill Me," this sounds like it could be cool.
I saw High Fidelity before I ever knew it was a book. Interesting that you think the movie was better! How often does that happen?!
Man, for some reason I suddenly want sushi and some wasabi to go with it. That has nothing to do with anything I just said. I just had to say that.

Definitely put "Racing in the Rain" on your reading list. It's a fantastic book. Yes, it's from a dog's point of view, but he's smarter and more philosophical than any human I've met thus far.
SLC punk is way better than "I wanna be Your Joey Ramone", but I like that genre in general. The fact that she's on the younger side may put some readers off, but she does grow and mature as the book progresses. It's has a little more sex than SLC, but it has the same grittiness that I loved in the movie. What's "Please Kill Me"? I've never heard of it.
Mmm sushi. Now I want some. Damnit.

Oh...I just looked up The Art of Racing in the Rain, and I'm sure I know who put me on to that one! I have a friend who is a fan of racing, and I'm (obviously) a mech-geek myself. Hmmm...this bears further study. *looks studious* The short passage I read about it makes me want to go road racing, which is odd, because all I've ever done is drag racing. Maybe I'm ready for something new, but it would have to be in something old, like a Curtis or a Briggs-Cunningham. Okay, totally derailed myself.
"Please Kill Me: The Uncensored Oral History of Punk" is all about the birth and growth of the punk scene starting back in the 60s. I'm not even necessarily a big punk fan, but it was one hell of an interesting book. Most of it is made up of direct quotes from the the people who were involved at the time. There's not much exposition on the part of the author.
Yeah...sushi...mmm...maybe some seaweed salad...mmm....!
