Right.

So I suppose I'd better learn how to use this thing.

It's kind of like a modern typewriter or something of the sort.

Peter. It's alright if we eat the popcorn. Calm down.

"At least he defers to Susan in most of those cases," Caspian smiles, leaning against Edmund's doorway. "How are you doing so far?"

"Somehow I can't imagine Peter deferring to anyone." Ed gives a cheeky smile before turning to Caspian with a shrug. "Doing as in, settling in? Well, it wouldn't be the first time I've been pulled to another world, would it?"

"Would you tell Susan how she should be hanging her snowflakes," he asks, quirking a brow. The resounding answer from all the boys of the household really should be NO if they know what's good for them. Well, sometimes they don't.

And then he shakes his head, smiling a bit. "No, I suppose it would not."

"I wouldn't ever see the light of day again if I tried that." and it definitely was a good, solid no. "Peter may be High King, but Su's really the one running things around here."

Edmund glances around his new room for a second before gesturing to the bed or the chair. "Did you want to sit?

"That is easy to see," he admits but quite fondly for the Gentle. There is however something to be said about boys being lazy and not at all willing to keep up with chore organization. It's just simpler when Susan tells them what to do. Plus, she is fair, most of the time.

At the invitation Caspian sort of tilts his head, then he ventures forward. It's a little strange, he has been in this room before and has felt welcome in it. Now it feels like he should be cautious again, respectable of Edmund's space. Many months have passed, after all. He takes a seat in the chair.

"Thank you," he nods, "... you were not away from Narnia for very long either?"

And besides, it's not like any of them really know anything about dusting or washing dishes. Better to just let Su boss them around. Edmund doesn't mind either way.

Why the Telmarine is being so cautious, Edmund can kind of understand- but it seems as if people from beyond Narnia know him, for some reason. More familiarly than they would from just his sibling's stories.

"Not particularly. I'd just gotten off the train when the lights went out." Edmund paused, his tone bordering on cautious.

"Caspian, I was here before?"

The Telmarine has to think for a moment, wanting to use the right words.

"You were, once. You, Peter, and myself, then one week Peter disappeared, and then the next week you did, and after that so did I," he explains to Edmund rather loosely. There is a bit of guilt in leaving the girls alone when he had promised Peter and Edmund he would always look out for them, whether blood related or not. He feels he failed even if none of them have any real control on who comes and goes and when. But nevermind that, they're together again. He gestures to the interior of the room.

"That is why this is your room, with some of the things you came to possess," which amounts to some clothes and miscellaneous books, but also a good sword or two.

It was hard to believe he was here again, especially since he didn't remember a single thing about this place. But if Caspian and the others said so, it must be true.

A glint of metal in the corner catches Edmund's eye, and he investigates, pulling out a sword from within the box. He hefts it in his hand, sad to see that it feels unfamiliar.

"It seems like I haven't held one of these in forever."

"Peter doesn't remember much either," he says to Edmund, watching the dark haired Pevensie approach the corner. It's as if he intuitively knew what might concern him, but it's only because he knew it bothered Peter too. For Caspian, it bothers him that he remembers much the more he came across in this place, but he is the only one to remember. Why, he wonders but doesn't voice. It's not for any of them to know, only the Lion knows.

"It can't have been that long since Beruna for you," Caspian remarks, noting how he holds the sword.

He's not worried about their lack of memory at all. Edmund, ever the practical one, rationalizes that it's because it makes no difference to them now. "Peter wants to know why, doesn't he?"

Edmund grips the thing before putting it down, shaking his head. "No, it was like this in Narnia, too. I'd forgotten, but my hands knew what to do. I suppose I'm just out of practice."

He leans forward, chin in the palm of his hand, looking very much not like a Telmarine King, or maybe just a Telmarine King at better ease. If he could hear those thoughts, the rationalization, he would openly (and probably awkwardly) proclaim It IS you. He missed Edmund too, no matter how reserved he was at the Just's arrival.

"He did, for a time, and maybe now but so much as of late," Caspian admits then directs his attention back to the blade, "we can only hope you find little reason to use it here, but it's always good to be prepared." He is unaware that Lucy told him about the duel.

To which Edmund would perhaps glance at him puzzlingly for. The other him must have been closer to Caspian than he is now, because Edmund had mostly been concentrating on the war during their time in Narnia, as they all were. There wasn't much time for long, idle talks such as these.

"I don't believe it matters, whether we remember or not. What matters is right now." ever the pragmatist, Edmund puts down the sword and goes to sit across from Caspian on the bed.

"Especially in a place like this. I suppose I'd best ask Peter to brush me up, then." he said dryly.

He was, in that they grew to become close after a slightly awkward period of... having idle talks such as this one. Caspian acknowledges the distance but he also isn't one to simply retreat from the boundary. What little time he might have with his friends should be used to their fullest. Perhaps that's why Peter calls him intrusive and invasive, but the Telmarine has always been one to step in and step up if only because he is willing to take that risk.

"I agree with you," he levels his gaze with Edmund's when the other man comes to sit across from him. At that suggestion though Caspian has to snort, just lightly. "He isn't the only one who carries a sword in this world, although he would certainly be one of the few I would trust with a sword at my back," but don't tell Peter he said that, "there is Romeo, Legolas, Arthur, Blue, and of course myself."

He doesn't mind the so-called 'intrusion' in the least. But then again, Edmund's always been a little less uptight than Peter, and that translates into his job of never letting Peter become too full of himself.

There's a silence, a pause for a moment- but not an awkward one. Or at least, he doesn't seem to think so. There are people who dislike silence, for some reason. Ed has always taken a small comfort in it.

Finally, Edmund nods. "I would have thought that swords are too old-fashioned for this world."

It's a full time job, so he hears.

Caspian doesn't mind silence either, especially silence in the company of someone who understands the merits of silence. From the looks of it, perhaps Edmund is one of those people.

"Sword play is a tried and true method. I have heard tale of those from other worlds where their blades are made of light. But I find steel more reliable."

A full time job with very few benefits and long hours.

"Blades of light? How does that even work?" he's madly curious and it shows despite his natural reserve.

Caspian obviously doesn't know that Lucy told him, or else this would be more awkward. Edmund decides to keep this bit of information to himself for now, until the time is right.

"Have you made friends here, Caspian?"
