It was a really lovely film - beautiful both in terms of cinematography as well as the portrait of this family. It struck me as very real, very human. These people were both frail and enduring, if that makes sense.
You're welcome! I hope you enjoy it. :) I read something today that made me think of this film: "Family life comes down to dramas that seem ordinary from the outside, but to the participants feel as tumultuous as volcanic eruptions." (from here, a theater review by Peter Marks) To me, this seems like a good description of the film - it's quiet and understated but each incident seems to take on outsized importance to specific characters, until each thing is swept aside until the next time, or until something else dominates the conversation.
