Yes, I finally got around to loading this new game onto my NDS! :)
Without further delay, here are some of my thoughts on Pokemon White 2.
Caution: [Spoilers!] [Ranting!]
- I chose Oshawott as my starter again. (Even though I'm still not used to that face...)
I've even evolved it to Samurott now. Thank Arceus for Pokesav, I managed to load Ice Beam and a Modest nature onto it.
- My current party consists of Ampharos, Swampert, Samurott, Riolu (now Lucario), Ninetales and Vaporeon. I was going to use my newly caught Arcanine and Huge Power Azumarill, but decided against it. I don't know why I'm training Riolu. Perhaps it's because I've never really had one before. Especially not so early in the game.
- I loaded my old Pokemon onto White 2 this time, since I couldn't bear to go through another game using random new Pokemon which I mostly dislike. Incidentally, Vaporeon gets Scald now. I am pleased.
- I am so glad they put some older Pokemon at the beginning of this game. I love having Mareep with me from the start.
- A cool thing happened last night at about 22:08. I ran into a wild shiny Joltik, by complete chance:
This very rarely happens to me. The first wild shiny I ever saw was a Psyduck in Crystal. (Technically the first shiny I ever owned was an Igglybuff which hatched from the Day Care Man's random Egg event.) I saw a shiny Ninetales at the Battle Tower in Emerald later on, but I don't think I've ever seen a shiny in the wild past Crystal.
- HMs are just given to you directly. For free. I'm at the 6th gym and I haven't needed to use any of them. I enjoy not having to go to any effort finding them, but... maybe it's just too easy.
- Team Plasma 2 are a complete joke now. Even the game admits that they are petty thieves and bullies.
- An ex-Plasma old guy gives you N's Zorua. I wish it were an Eevee instead, because I don't think I'll train it.
- You can't access half the towns in the game until after you defeat the Elite Four.
- I've had to use Strength once throughout the entire game. And Fly. That's it!~ Poor HMs.
- I haven't come across the breeding location yet, and I have just completed the game.
- There are wild Eevee and Skitty in the patch of grass found by going up the stairs in the Castelia City garden. It's in the sewers though. Apparently they are proud that their fine city originated from what is now a sewer...
- This game's map appears to be fairly linear. I have not gotten lost once. No opportunity to, really. I hate being lost, but again... Maybe this is too easy.
- Palpitoad is a terrifying creature. I... just can't fathom how some of these designs were approved.
- N makes a short cameo. His Reshiram gets transformed into a Bakugan and absorbed by evil Kyurem. Unfortunately he is useless and you have to save both his Reshiram and him.
- Pokemon science says that DNA fusion can be reversed in just a few seconds!
- Iris is now the new League Champion. I have three water types, and they all have Ice Beam.
Easiest end of game battle ever.
- Flashy staircases and sparkles at the League itself.
- Except then why is the road there mostly trudging through a leaky cave?
- Lucky Egg is the best journey item of all time.
- Your rival/friend goes on about how Team Plasma stole his sister's Purrloin many years ago.
- He is obsessed with the idea of rescuing it throughout the entire game...
- One of the Shadow Triad actually gives it back. But it's a Liepard now. Who hates everyone.
- So... your rival returns it to his sister... Who pats her former Liepard's Pokeball every day, in the hope that it might remember and love her.
- I can't help but feel that this obsession with getting his late grandfather's Purrloin back didn't come to a satisfactory resolution. I wanted a happy ending for this guy and his sister's Purrloin. It was the only plot point of the game I was kind of interested in seeing through...
