TWELFTH NIGHT WITH RANDY

Aug 30, 2010 23:05

I entered the lottery early Saturday morning and won two tickets to the Sunday matinee of Twelfth Night with Randy Harrison at the Sidney Harman Hall in Washington, DC this past weekend. I was able to fly in and out the same day. The hall is huge and holds about 800 people and the tickets are assigned seats so you don't have to wait in a long line ( Read more... )

Glad you got a chance to see this, and it was a good production! And you did such a great job w/ the details I won't have anything to write about!

I kinda like the Shakespearean "who's who" theme, so I'm really looking forward to seeing it this weekend.

You always write such a good report that you make mine sound lame. I will be interested in your impressions and you will love this play. I know you will see things that I forgot. Have a great time.

Thanks... I am looking forward to a great weekend, part Randy and part tourist/sight-seeing.

I think you did a great job w/ the review... Sometimes I spend so much time watching Randy, I actually forget to watch the rest of the show! But I'm sure I'll be forgiven for it! ;p

Toto,

When you see this production, see if the fight is between Viola/Cesario and Andrew or Sebastian and Andrew. I swear I saw Randy in a coreographed fight but two accounts mention it was Cesario. I know I didn't mistake the two because they really didn't look alike and I know Randy but now I am puzzled.

The other thing I rarely see in any production is the fact
that this is a play FOR Twelfth Night -- literally the
12th day after Christmas, which is a time when roles are
reversed and master serves servant and the Lord of Misrule
decrees that every act the opposite of their usual manner.
In other words, it's a Christmas/Holiday play and it should
have that tone to it. But you never see that portrayed.

Wonderful review, Dixie! I'm so glad you enjoyed it. It's unfortunate that it was part of the "Free for All" series, making it problematic for any fans of Randy's to see it, unless they live fairly close.

Thanks again for your great report!

Thanks, Kin. I know that this is not the way I like to see Randy's plays with a hit or miss chance of getting tickets and getting there unless you can drive there. I know how lucky I am to have been able to do this.
