I had a great time too! Michelle does give the best hugs, doesn't she? I was happy you were able to catch Randy's Dr. Chilton again... even if it was a day of understudies. Although, I guess you could say Randy was an understudy too! LOL!
I'm lovin' coming to New York and seeing you and the NY ladies. Thanks for encouraging us to go again. Lorraine loved it and I knew she would. 'til the next time.
It must have been great to have such a nice time with Michelle and I completely understand that chatting with her and actually being able to not feel rushed while having a conversation is wonderful for a change. It's impossible with Randy, if pictures of fan encounters are any indication, as these meetings always seem to be crowded and rushed and I suppose people are always hyped up and so on. At the Con it was easy for me to speak to Michelle or Thea, but Randy was nearly shut off - by the "officials" as well. A fact I found to be extremly unprofessional, but that's another story altogether.
We talked about that "fan" aspect a lot, as I recall. Thanks for posting.
I never seem to have a problem getting to chat with the other cast when I go to see their plays but Randy is hit or miss and always has a crowd and you hate to take up any time to say anything more than "I loved the play and you were great." and often you don't even get to say that because he either doesn't show up or splits soon after. The only time I really had a conversation with him was backstage of Joe's Pub when I was back there talking to Bridget, the headliner, and he came back to see her. There was just the 3 of us and no rush but that's a rare thing with him.
True, but from the couple of sentences I got with him and the fact that he can never relax because he can't say one word unnoticed or unobserved I am amazed he still comes out after shows at all. That it was easy to talk to Thea or Michelle was due to the fact that there are not many crowds like that and that makes it possible for them to be themselves in a way Randy can not afford to be. At the Con he always had sb. attached to his hip. I'd go crazy. Nicki
This sounds like a wonderful play she did, Dixie! I'm glad you got to see it. It was a pleasure meeting you at Qwan. I hope you don't mind I friended you. I was reading some of your older posts. I can't believe you were a member of FFOTF. Wow. Hope to see you again. I saw predec2 post about your wonderful weekend together.Congrats on all the QAF memorabilia. You're a very lucky lady. You looked fantastic in the qaf con's dvd. I have to re-watch it. I only noticed you & pam1 in it. Hugs, Annie
One of the great things about going to see Randy or any other QAF cast member in a performance is meeting more fans. I'm sure we will meet again. I friended you too. Yes, I have been in the fandom from the very beginning and at one time I belonged to over 40 groups pertaining to QAF though now only about 3 are still active. My first meeting with Gale was at Uncle Bob when I met up with about a dozen FFOTF for lunch first and that was my first exposure to other fans.
I do have many many QAF mementos obtained at 3 Toronto Cons, the set sale when the show ended and also from eBay. I bought the leather pants from the Leather Ball directly from Patrick Antosh. Predec2 only mentioned a few. I didn't know she posted about our visit so I went to see what she had to say. It was great to meet up with Jule again so soon after the QAF Con.
I think that I got too much coverage in the DVD but at least you know I was there. I saw a lot of one of the gals from Switzerland that I met there and also soulmatejunkee.
