Orphan Black is one of those amazing surprises, I remember hearing all the buzz and decided to watch the pilot and was immediately hooked. :D

OUAT, yeah. I adored S1 because it was campy and ridiculous, but in a fun way, and I enjoyed learning more and seeing more of the characters from their fairytale land selves versus the reality curse. But then it just turned into something I wasn't particularly liking as much, because I thought it was about merging fairytales and reality, instead it turned into a Disney marketing tool which is...unfortunate. And it wasn't progressing in a way that I thought it would, especially with characters (I ended up liking the side characters more, but they don't spend that much time on them anyway, most end up being forgotten, sadly). So I stopped watching during S2.

But this is in no way a discouragement from you watching, esp if you're aware how ridiculous and tropey it is and that it isn't going to progress anywhere beyond that. By all means, enjoy the crap out of it!

OUAT feels more like the kind of thing I'd like to read/write fic about. Orphan Black is awesome, as I was expecting it to be, but OUAT is the kind of thing I see myself being fannish about. (It also lets me play one of my favorite games, Spot the Guest Stars.) I borrowed S1 from the library cos it was there, and after watching a few episodes put a hold on S2.
