[Action]

[It's a fairly windy day, but with the warm weather lately, it's more welcome than stale air. The past few weeks have been very busy for the healer-- observing the new feather cycle, schoolwork, assisting with Legato's surgery, capturing Mithos, looking after Derek--among other assorted events, leaving her less time for herself ( Read more... )

[When Raine stops by to check on Mithos, he'll be sitting on the cot. He's quiet, but it's a brooding quiet, not a complacent one. No means of escape exist, but he isn't going to just accept this imprisonment. Martel needs him...

It's strange, how cut out of the world he feels. This isolation isn't entirely different from how he existed for many hundreds of years on Derris-Kharlan, miles away from reality and surrounded by lifeless shells of people, but the heart adjusts to new situations quickly. Almost frighteningly so. Without its owner even trying or noticing. A few months was enough to grow accustomed to seeing his sister every day once again. It was even enough to start getting used to the idea of having a friend, just a few short months out of thousands of years.

All the more reason to get out of here as soon as possible. The feeling of being helpless, of being at someone else's mercy...they aren't feelings he relishes in the least.

He looks up when he hears the sound of footsteps.]

[Raine's currently bringing him some fresh food-- he has other foodstuffs meant to last through the days, in case they miss checking in on him, but they're being generous with him to a fault. The point isn't to treat him like an animal, after all.

Really the only trouble is figuring out how to greet him. HIs moods tended to lean toward the unpredictable at times. Even so, there could be no weakness toward him. Firmness, but not rigidness. Such a balance.]

Mithos.

[His expression darkens when she comes into view. Having no company is preferable to her company. Just seeing her still reminds him of that time, when he had thought of her as...

No, he isn't going to think about it. If one memory rises up, more will follow it to cloud his mind. It's a slippery slope.

His eyes land on the food in her hands. That along with the annoyingly civil greeting, as if she hadn't played a part in his imprisonment.]

Why are you bothering?

There's no reason to starve down here. [She shrugs a little, carefully setting the food inside. Nothing that he'd require utensils for, though there are napkins of course.]

[He remains sitting, training a sullen glare on her form as she sets the food down. As much as he would like to reject the help she throws him, he knows his life depends on it. How thoroughly humiliating. He can at least hold onto a few shreds of his pride by waiting to eat it until after she leaves.]

You can't honestly say that you would care if I did. Wouldn't that just make things easier for all of you? [Oh so very bitter right here.]

No, not particularly. [After all, he'd just show up again. Missing something and possibly more deranged due to the fact.] Do you even know why you're here?

I'm here because of your stupid notions of right and wrong.

You have the right to live freely in Luceti, as long as you show no harm to others who mean you no harm. That should have been clear enough to you. Fighting a defenseless woman does not fall under that description.

[He flinches just a little, because he can guess to what she is referring. The lid loosens a bit from those conflicting thoughts and feelings and his fists clench tightly shut at his sides as he shoots up from his seated position on the cot.]

Don't you dare talk to me about-- [No no no he doesn't want to be reminded, he doesn't want to look at that part of himself again. He clamps his mouth shut. Breathe, ignore.] ...You still don't understand anything.

Then perhaps it's even, since you don't understand my meaning either.

I understand perfectly well. You all think that you're right and that I'm wrong. It's just a stupid game of good versus evil. You refuse to look at it any other way...you won't even consider that maybe I'm right, and everyone else who's against me are the ones committing wrongs.

I wonder if you ever stop to examine the things that come out of your mouth sometimes. In any case, I would prefer if you refrained from putting words into mine.

But it's true, isn't it? Your judgment is not absolute. How do you know who means harm and who doesn't? That isn't for you alone to decide. You think that you can do no wrong, like you have all the answers - it's so annoying!

When I said don't put words into my mouth, that also applied toward your assumptions on how I think as well.

[With no powers and such a barren cell, there are few ways to release his aggression. He'll opt for stamping his foot down on the floor.]

If that isn't how it is, then what? What reason is there to detain me here if you understand that?

I suggest that you use the time that you spend down here to figure that out.
